VW Trooper Parts Question
Hello All,
I hope everyone is enjoying the UK summer, finally!
I have a quick question, on my VW Trooper, circa 2000 there are two rubber grips on the outside near the roof that you release when putting the roof up and re-attach when the rood is down for travel. Does anyone know where i can get replacements for these please? I can send pics if required.
Thank you in advance for any advice.

Re: VW Trooper Parts Question
If it's a standard flat-sided A/S roof, I don't think these are standard parts - they would (I'm fairly sure) have been added by a previous owner.
Visually, are they like this?:

Re: VW Trooper Parts Question
I'm pretty sure they're AS fitted parts as other Trooper images on the net show the same rubber holds.

Re: VW Trooper Parts Question
Some do, and some don't. There are six T4-based Troopers on Ebay at the moment - three appear to have them in some form, and three don't. Perhaps A/S fitted them from the factory, or perhaps the factory locking mechanism became unreliable and they were added - I don't know.
When we went round looking at T4 based Troopers a few years back we didn't view a single one with them fitted. The roof locking mechanism seems to have stayed pretty much the same since we owned our first one in the early 80's, but the cam mechanism can wear, and once the cams start to splay out you will probably start to get unreliability - hence (I guess) the need for the rubber "belt and braces".
Edit: but whatever the original source, they do appear to be available for around £8 a pair on Ebay.

Thank you very much for this info, much appreciated.
Could I ask if you have a link please, I cannot find them anywhere on eBay.

Re: VW Trooper Parts Question
Sorry - it's 2 days on now and I closed the tab with the search results in.
I still had this tab open - which is almost £8 for just one, but I'm sure I viewed at least one listing at ~£8 for two:

If you import from China they are typically the exact same product at half the price, but of course you have to wait for them...
