AS Kingham Sluggish charge on EHU
I have x2 AGM Plus leisure batteries (18 months old) as well as a 100w solar panel.
It appears that the speed of recharge is extremely sluggish on electric hookup taking hours to rise even slightly.
I have received advice that if the batteries are AGM and the chargers are set for 'gel' or 'lead-acid'then the batteries won't achieve 100% and that l should recalibrate the system
My question is firstly, what and where are the "chargers" how would l find out if the settings ( are gel/acid) are incorrect and secondly how do l recalibrate the system to achieve 100% charge ?
Thank you in advance

Assuming you have a EC500 PSU with EC300 control Panel. The charger is in the PSU.
o calibrate the panel, turn the charger off on the PSU, turn the power off on the control panel.
At the control panel, scroll to the Battery Current screen and ensure the leisure battery is
selected (if not press the battery select button to change). Now press and hold the select button
(left arrow) until the ‘calibrating….. please wait’ message is shown. Now release the select
button. The procedure is complete.
The rate of battery charging depends on how much habitation items are being used and what power they are using. The manual explains this.

Thank you.
I have followed your helpful advice and also reset the AH Start Point to 100%.
As l have 2x 100 leisure batteries should the battery size within the control panel be 100 or 200 as it is set?
Thank you again

Perhaps you can clarify your install. That looks like it may be an EC480 control panel which is usually associated with an EC500 main unit. My EC500 has a separate PX300 charger.

Yes it is a EC500 main unit/480 control panel.

You will probably have one of these fitted somewhere.

Yes there is 3 stage switching mode behind the EC 500 unit.
Is there something for me to check with said unit?

In the PX300 Datasheet it states that it is ok for AGM (with an additional note) up to 220AH but that’s the extent of my knowledge with AGM batteries and their charging profile, I’ve only ever had lead acid. As far as I’m aware there are no switches on the PX300. Is there possibly a setting in the advanced menu on the EC480 CP?
Perhaps give Sargent a call?
