Mobile Broadband
What mobile broadband do you guys use?
In the past I’ve always used a Three data SIM 24GB that lasts for 24 months but the new Symbol comes with a telly so I’ll probably need more data.
I’ve noticed Scancom are offering a Three data SIM 5G…80GB renewable every month until Jan 2027 for a one off price about £80.
Would this work OK in the Avtex router?? (I’m a total * Inappropriate Word * when it comes to this sort of stuff)

Didn't get much joy on there, anyway it's probably out of date!

Re: Mobile Broadband
Try searching for Wifi instead of mobile broadband and, no, they are not out of date.

Re: Mobile Broadband
I didn't know Avtex made a router, so just looked it up and almost certain from the images it is a rebranded Teltonika RUT950. *EDIT* Further research confirms it definitely is a RUT950mikemelson wrote:What mobile broadband do you guys use?

If so, I can confirm that the Scancom prepaid Three SIM will work, as that is what I use. I bought the 'unlimited' which actually has a fair use cap of 1TB per month, so pretty huge. I would think 80GB is probably a little low if you stream a lot of TV.
Note that their prices on Amazon are generally cheaper than buying direct from the website, which are shown ex VAT.
Hope that helps.I couldn't find any similar answers using search anyway!

Re: Mobile Broadband
Hello Mike -You will notice that the tele streaming function eats data for breakfast e.g. I've just been away for 4 days. Streamed Amazon Prime in the evenings and used up 28 gig for tele, phones and internet music. I bought a Smarty sim. We pay £20 a month for unlimited data. There is a suspend function which allows you to miss a month or 2 if you're not going to use it. The signal is great. I think they are linked to Vodafone (or not).

SMARTY isn't very good outside the UK due to the 12GB "fair use" restriction per month.

Re: Mobile Broadband
In the enormous bag of bumf that came with the new Symbol is an O2 SIM issued by Govivo in partnership with Avtex.
It is for unlimited data, £18.99 per month but includes 25GB of European data each month.
Does this sound reasonable??

Depends where you want to use it. Popit is £25 a month for 100GB, but you can use all of that abroad, if you want.mikemelson wrote:In the enormous bag of bumf that came with the new Symbol is an O2 SIM issued by Govivo in partnership with Avtex.

Re: Mobile Broadband
We use a Smarty unlimited sim in our 2023 Symbol with the Avtex router and it works fine. We both have phones on O2 that we use as backup if there isn't a Three signal. Although it's unlimited it only has 12GB of data in Europe.
