Mobile Aircon added
Hi, just wanted to share that I'm on my first trip to France and Spain with my springer Moon and its obviously, hot So popped off to Leroy Merlin and bought an Aircon unit £162 fitted in 20 minutes. I have a happy cool dog now. Fits between my 2 front seats. EHU needed of course.

Nice fit between the seats!
Can you share a few pictures of how you're venting it to the outside? I can see the hose going up towards the drivers door window, but then what happens?

Would you be able to tell me the model number etc …. the market is flooded with such items so it’s good to find one that is recommended.

Has anyone tried the USB charged units available that you fill with water , available for as little as £15? Any use at all or £15 wasted?

Daughter bought one that cost £40 a few weeks ago, very good as a fan and when filled with water or ice, cools her personal space when working but not powerful enough for whole room. She thinks it may be powerful enough for use in wxl but we haven't tried it.

It doesn’t say how much it weighs, I had a portable one once and it was very heavy. This one might be more up to date!

Re: Mobile Aircon added
The motorhome show in Norwich yesterday waa awash with all manner of airconditioners, most quite compact circa 1 ft3 or smaller. On in particular use 12 v or 240 v and as low as 4A on 12v something my solar could easily handle.
Point being there are heaps of these things around now. As to practicality that's a different question. Our monocoque, with the windscreen cover fitted and 2 of the 3 roof vents open, all blinds closed stays remarkably cool even if, as it is now, in full sun in the garden, so even a weedy wee conditioner would have some effect.
There were also many of the ones Paul mentioned using water evaporation and they seemed to give a surprising amount of cool air even in the open as we were. Only concern for me with a totally bone dry monocoque would be, effectively, adding water to the interior fabrics etc
Having had 2 weeks of circa 32c on last EU trip we never felt the need for any air conditioning, especially as we generally were, parked in shade. Therefore my simplicity obsession is addressed!!

That's a shame, I was really keen to know how you're venting the pipe to the outside world.
In the absences of photos could you describe it for us please?

Sure so I attach the extendable pipe to back of the machine....stretch it over to the window surround it with the strong foam that came with it and then gently wind up window till it traps the elongated pipe between the window and the van door
