Raining and blowing gusts at 7 am for the shopping trip, calmed down a lot now with sunny periods.
Trying to sort out some Hotels an flights, prices have really gone up makes me realise what good value the van is .

Re: Weather
A nice bright but chilly day here. I forgot to put the workshop heater on the thermostat setting yesterday so it was a bit chilly in there this afternoon.
The forecast says it’s going to drop to 4-6 degrees tonight so I have made sure the thermostat will trip on below 10 degrees. I might have a full day to myself tomorrow unless I have forgotten something so it will be nice and warm in there by the morning.

Re: Weather
Just walked home from town centre after a retiral bash for the last if my cohort of NHS managers and clinicians who ran the NHS locally a decade ago. 5 degrees and a lovely still cloudless sky. Didn't need the wooly hat and gloves I had with me.
Lots of good reminiscing and general agreement that retirement is a good place to be after years of toil.
Will need a quiet day tomorrow to recover, fortunately management is going out for lunch.
Bedtime now. Sleep well.

Re: Weather
Another cold but lovely bright day here. Being Remembrance Day it reminds me of my time in the Air Cadets when we attend a service at the war memorial on the hill above our village. Being open moorland it was absolutely freezing and a sheep tried to eat the wreath my mate was carrying. The guy playing the last post struggled because he was so cold.
From what our squadron leader said we were lucky it wasn’t foggy or raining as had been in past years.

Morning folks,
Winter is well and truly here now, -2 degrees and white with frost. Daughter gave us a restaurant voucher so no cooking for Dave today
Wrap up well if your out and about up this neck of the woods.

First frost of winter here, 1c this morning at dawn. Beautiful day so far, zero wind, may see 6c today...
See on Gridwatch that only 17% of electricity from renewables today and they have the coal fired ones at spinning reserve, ie, running but at "idle" Done as ready back-up, a lot more often than most will realise....

4 ° here rising to 6 with a 100% chance of rain throughout the day (raining right now) so don't think we'll be venturing out today.

Re: Weather
Muttly was not amused by us getting up early before going to pick up daughter from Manchester Airport. The day hadn’t been colored in and there was frost on the grass. I had to defrost the car for the first time so it must be officially winter now.
The temperature got to a balmy 4 degrees by the time we got to Manchester. After their cruise it must have a bit chilly. I remember leaving Brisbane in 40 degree heat and traveling back home on the train from Manchester late December. It wasn’t helped by the train having no heating.

Morning all,
6 degrees and raining this morning. After a nice, if cold, day yesterday the rain started about 4 and hasn't stopped since and there's no sign of that changing.
Take care if your oot an aboot.

Re: Weather
I am not sure if it was Debi but it’s been wet and windy most of the day. Me and muttly managed our walk between showers.
After collecting daughter from the airport yesterday it was our sons turn for transport today. Only local after a minor opp on his toe by the foot lady. He was going to walk home but he needed some shopping so I gave him a lift rather than him getting soaked.
He is going to Edinburgh later in the week the same as I did after an opp on my foot. Trying to navigate the cobbles with an inclined shoe was not a good idea. We did a highland tour whilst there. Our bus driver was a bit concerned when he saw my foot and then another older couple from New Zealand with two sticks each.

Re: Weather
I was due to have my cracked windscreen changed on my car today.
This was appointment no.3 with the last one postponed because of storm Ciaran.
I spent two days emptying my garage as requested by the fitter last time.
Having reversed in to keep the car dry overnight (and having knocked off the mirror casing while I was concentrating on not knocking the roof aerial off ) the fitter took one look and said there wasn't enough room in the garage for him, as he uses a crine - Midlander by the sound of it .
So, outside with it.
And of course, we're in the middle of Storm Debi. Luckily, we're sheltered somewhat from the out and out westerlies, so he felt it would be OK...............
as long as it doesn't rain.
He was prepared to make a start and would then abort the operation if it rained.
He said he'd crack on (pun intended) and it would take him and hour and a quarter.
Ninety minutes later, he hadn't even got the old screen out and I was fearing the worst, looking at the black clouds scooting in off the Atlantic.
After two hours or so, he finished the job.
Thankfully, Debi must have been in a good mood and didn't spill a drop until after he'd gone.
Phew!
Still blowing a hooley down here, but no more rain.
