Early morning rain, with showers forecast today and tomorrow, no chance of getting outdoor jobs done until Thursday.
Have a good day and enjoy your travels if away.

13° now and a high of 15° later with rain likely all day. Coffee morning for me and hairdressers for the boss. I have a new battery for the van on the way so hopefully one of us will be back in time for the delivery.
Take care all.

Re: Weather
13 here rising to 17 with pretty good chance of rain. Need to get out shortly to apply lawn food before it rains. Trying the no-raking moss killer . Then clear out the car in preparation for handover of new-to-me car that I spent some of sons inheritance on yesterday. Had present one for 7 years, it's now 13 years old, time for change.

What did you buy Paul?
Raining here now after a reasonable start, garden desperately needs it so not unhappy.
Also gets me out of painting today so win win.

Present car is a Kia Venga diesel 1.4 (60plate), new one is a Dacia Sandero Stepway petrol (17plate), top of the range. Amazing how nippy a tiny 900 cc engine is these days. Part-exd the Venga for well above webuyanycar and other such places.groundhog wrote:What did you buy Paul?

Re: Weather
An overcast but bright day giving me chance to finish the arch above the front door. The gap on one side left when the door was fitted required filling so it off to Screwfix after muttly walking. I thought one tube would be plenty but was only just enough. It’s no wonder there was a draft from that corner.
Management pointed out that the bracket for the hanging basket next to the door needed painting. There was no way it was coming off the wall so I found the black Hamerite and painted it in situ. Rather than trying to clean the brush, it was a cheap one, I was going to bin it. No chance. Whilst I had the paint out the gate needed painting apparently. There’s only one gate but it’s a fiddly thing to paint.
She is away for two days from tomorrow so no domestic warfare. I am going to Newark with our son tomorrow. If the weather holds out it will be nice to have mooch round. Thursday I might have a day in the workshop playing with my steam engines and generally chilling out.

Re: Weather
13° now rising to a heady 17° later, the cold wind over the past few days has certainly kept things fresh.
I got upstaged by my brother yesterday, thought my "saving a pigeon" story was good but he had a squirrel running around his top floor flat for three days He had no idea how it got in, or where it was hiding, but he couldn't catch it. He eventually managed to get it to leave via a window he opened. Oddly, it has since been back on his outside windowsill a couple of times. I told him to check the flat carefully in case it had left any "presents"

14 rising to 17 with fair chance of rain. We had a downpour about 3am which is just what I wanted for the lawn treatment I did yesterday. Sun shine at the moment.

13 here too but coming out and better forecast. A day of mowing and blowing I think. Obviously siesta will be required this afternoon to inspect the inside of the eyelids.

13° here and rising 15° later, we're expecting rain most of the day with a fairly strong wind blowing. Shopping day for us too, plenty of eggs in Aldi but bird flu has reared it's ugly head again. I wonder if restrictions will be introduced again on free range hens?
Take it easy

Re: Weather
Rain showers forecast for rest of today, but managed to get all the grass cut this morning, last cut before leaving on Sunday for our 35th anniversary trip.
Local tesco had soda scones last week so may be worth a check in your locality Dave, they were in the packaged bakery goods, rather than instore heated stuff if that makes sense. Believe our local bakers will make to order as well

Bon voyage BB, just the 38 years for us this year (although we've been together for 45 ) and enjoy your trip to the land of berries Dave. Gauge is at 17° here and rising to 22° later but the forecast is for it to stay overcast. We had very heavy rain right through the night but it's easing off now.
Fun and games for me today as I go over to do some work on the van
Take care all, especially those on the move (and me )

A warm start with a gentle breeze. Considering muttly has a thick double coat he is lying in the sun waiting for me to finish breakfast before our walk.

How strange, we didn't get a single spot of rain yesterday, bit windy yes but no gale. Anglesey does seem to get its very own weather.FreelanderUK wrote:Blowing a Gale and heavy rain on and off at the THS Dolydd Camaes Bay Anglesey, it’s forecast for the next 2 days apparently

Back from the early shop at 0715 then straight to the Hospital for an ECG as requested by the DVLA at 0900. About 10 staff in the Cardiac department and just one other person waiting, it does make you wonder! Stories abound of people waiting months for essential operations and I have just taken up the time of a cardiac unit, a specialist who has to fill in the forms for the DVLA, the DVLA doctors and all for no good reason as I am perfectly healthy with no issues. Makes no sense to me.
Enjoy your trips everyone, my turn soon!

Re: Weather
A lovely warm day with a gentle breeze to keep the air moving. After helping daughter’s fiancé with a couple of DIY jobs she supplied lunch for us.
Before we came home she asked me to try on my suit and shoes for the wedding. I didn’t want to cause trouble but I thought the suits were brown when we went for first fitting hence brown shoes. They are a nice blue with pin stripping. Also they come with a tie and matching hanky for the top pocket.
Apart from struggling with the shirt buttons having stiff fingers and small buttons everything fits and looks very smart. It should do as it wasn’t cheap for probably one outing.

Re: Weather
Sunny and 18°c now but getting cloudy and 25°c later which will have consequences. Rain is likely this afternoon, possibly accompanied by thunder. When I got back yesterday my services were required for lopping duties which meant teetering at the top of a step ladder whilst weilding an extendable lopper. The pear tree looks a lot neater today, me, not so much
Take care all and enjoy your travels if away.

16 degrees and bright sunny morning with no hint of armageddon forecast for later.
Vintage and classic transport extravaganza at Glamis Castle this weekend, been sitting having morning cuppa watching a steady stream of old cars heading out of town towards Glamis, beats usual morning commuting traffic.
