Thule Elite bike rack
I’m sure they’re not called clamp arms, but the arms that have the clamps that fasten on to the bike crossbars is what l mean. I didn’t fit the rack so don’t know how the arms were fastened. Now l want to change the position of the arms - new bikes need the clamps on the side opposite where they are. There are hinged clamps with what look like sleeves over the join but l can’t move the sleeves, can’t get to the hinges, can’t move them.
I’m convinced there will be a simple answer but not simple enough for me.

If this is the right rack Item 1 on pge 13 shows how thw arms are fixed to the cross tube. Collar slides on of to clamp arm on tube.

Thanks Ploughlin, that’s the one but the collars don’t slide. Assuming you have one, does yours disassemble like it should?

don't have one myself. Try clamping the read part to relieve pressure then slide the collar.

Re: Thule Elite bike rack
I’ve got this rack, can’t remember exactly how to release the arms but Peter’s suggestions are correct (or thereabouts). You may have to unscrew the arm clamp completely?
I can give you an answer this afternoon if you haven’t sorted it by then when I’m home.

Re: Thule Elite bike rack
Thanks all for your help. I took it to my van man who managed to remove one arm by literally hanging from it. The other one is not for moving but at least l can now re arrange them. Only been fitted a year but it’s been stood in the farmyard for six months accumulating all the crud that flies around.

Re: Thule Elite bike rack
If its a Thule rack, loosening the arm by rotating the knob anticlockwise should allow you to adjust the arm. BUT, these knobs are lockable. If locked they can be rotated freely but do not release the fitting. Check wit the the supplied key.
