Duetto Central locking
Happy New Year to you all!
I have a 1999 Ford Duetto and i have always assumed that it didn't have central locking, but since reading various posts on here, i'm now not so sure. There is a fuse in the central locking position in the fuse box. Is there an easy way to check? Did AS sell some Duettos without and some with?
Look forward to any replies.
Thanks Martin.

Re: Duetto Central locking
Do you mean central locking, or remote control locking?
As far as I know, every Mk5 transit has central locking (if you put the key in the driver's door lock and turn to lock, it locks all of the doors). If yours doesn't do this, there is probably a fault somewhere. My '99 Flair (which is essentially a SWB version of the Duetto) had central locking, but not remote locking.

Re: Duetto Central locking
Just central locking - i only have keys without buttons (except the Cobra alarm thingy) .
Can any other Ford (smiley type) Duetto owners confirm if they have central locking?
How and what should i test or look for to confirm if i have it fitted?
TIA

Hi
Humm, as far as I am aware I haven’t got central locking. If I have it’s never worked!
I took the front door cards off last year to fix an electric window problem and I don’t remember any central locking mechanism.
Ok I wasn’t looking for it but as far as I remember the only wiring loom went to the window winder motor and switches. I’ll be watching this tread with interest.

Hi Brod,
After hours of trawling through pages on here and the Ford Transit forum - i think that i probably don't have CL. It just seemed strange to have a fuse in the CL slot. I have only had my Duetto since last August.
Martin.

It's a long long time since I owned mine, but IIRC the control module was at the front left hand side of the dash, immediately to the right of the radio's power amplifier (which I think was also optional). I must admit I would be surprised that the Mk5 didn't have central locking as standard - pretty much everything else would have, by the late 90's.

Re: Duetto Central locking
I had a 1999 Duetto on a MK5 Transit and it did not have central locking. Each door was individually manually locked with an interlock on the driver's door intended to stop me slamming the door shut from outside and locking myself out. It was a non-turbo model if that makes any difference.

Well - you learn something new every day! I had always thought that the 94/5 onward "smiley" Transit diesels were all turbodiesels. My '99 van certainly had a turbo, and I really enjoyed driving it!

Mine is Mk5 Duetto LE (Less Equipment ?), first registered 2000, but last of the run of that model (1999) I believe.
No electric windows, steel wheels, normally aspirated (no turbo) banana engine, but upgraded oven, gold taps over green enamelled sink etc., but definitely central locking.

Re: Duetto Central locking
I haven't read through all the posts.... but
MOST mk5 transits came without any central locking. The easy way to tell if you have it is whether there is a set of contacts on the top support for the sliding door (if its there then it should have C/L) and whether there is a lock barrel on the side loading door (if it has one, no C/L).
There is no control module for it, its a fairly simple circuit controlled in the lock mechanisms themselves. If yours has a "control module" its actually an alarm control (which again was an option).
There were only 3 levels of wiring harness fitted to the transits, billy basic, high spec and Tourneo. I believe that Duettos all have the tourneo spec loom, but what was connected to it varied.
