I hope his batteries are charged up well if left at a dealer and dont get left to drain low in voltage and power and then damage the batteries as they don't stay charged to a safe voltage and power as to the time a member on this forum keeps saying giving very poor advise

I'm just curious, how does a Whale heater integrate with a Sargent EC700 system? Does the Whale heater have a separate LCD control box, or do you use just the EC700 panel to control the Whale heater?

Re: Whale heating faults
The whale is lower cost and like the ec700 had a lot of problems
I would pay the extra and have the truma it’s been tried and tested and myself find it to be mush better then the whale item .the only gain is the whale unit fits into the floor so a small extra space gain but that’s the only + I can give it .the truma been able to control from my phone ++++.
It’s best an owner with the whale says how good it is 🤭

It’s a separate control panel, not LCD though.Relaxez-Vous wrote:I'm just curious, how does a Whale heater integrate with a Sargent EC700 system? Does the Whale heater have a separate LCD control box, or do you use just the EC700 panel to control the Whale heater?

Re: Whale heating faults
Good point. I learnt from your mishap by shutting down my EC700 when I handed over my Nuevo to a workshop for a few days earlier this year. I could see on AS Monitor if they had turned it back on. Had either battery voltage dropped significantly, I would have been onto them like a flash but I didn't need to. The van was under cover most of the time so solar wasn't going to help.glyne lock wrote:I hope his batteries are charged up well if left at a dealer and dont get left to drain low in voltage and power and then damage the batteries as they don't stay charged to a safe voltage and power as to the time a member on this forum keeps saying giving very poor advise

Re: Whale heating faults
Just been talking to the Grandchildren about when we had to get off our backsides and change channel on TV. Why you need to be able to control the van from a phone is a mystery to me as is the alert to tell you the battery is low in the early hours.
Was once thinking of a new van, but after reading of all the problems, this one will see us out, until the lure of Hotels and Gites become a priority But will miss the van for a brew and a wee when out.

When you use the camper all year round you can put the heating on before you get back to the camper after a walk or myself been out in the sea kayak I can have a shower in a warm camper and clean up.on a cold morning turn up the heating .it’s fitted in the camper so I make good use of it ref truma heating.not everyone will use the heating like myself to see the benefit just like my mod extra heater outlet to heat the cab area better

Re: Whale heating faults
Getting back to the original issue. I had trouble with lockouts 21 WXL when on LPG, the issues happened when using it when traveling if you turn the ignition off before turning the heater off and let it go through its closing cycle, in temps below 5c when the double bed is made up it overheats due to the hot air getting trapped under the bed, with two outlets and the sole inlet being under the bed causing the outlet pipes to heat to incredibly scary temperatures. According to the Whale distributor in Bulgaria, the exhaust pipe is longer than whale specification, since reducing the length had no issue, ps there is also a autosleeper dealer email which requires the out let nearest the rear doors to be replaced to the version where you cant close it.
