Fuel consumption
Recently installed an app o my phone to keep tabs on fuel consumption on my 2017 Warwick duo.
Over three tank fills I am showing 20.00 to the gallon. I would be interested to know are other members getting similar mpg?

Re: Fuel consumption
Sounds a bit low to me. My Symbol is a bit smaller and I get between 30 and 33mpg, I’m sure other Warwick owners get high 20’s.
Can’t beat the 100% accurate brim to brim figure with the garage receipt and a calculator IMO!

Re: Fuel consumption
I did brim to brim last weekend on trip to Barnard Castle and back, mix of motorway at 60mph and A roads. Over 470 miles did 27.65mpg, onboard fuel consumption on dash showed 29.1mpg, so it is a bit optimistic.

Re: Fuel consumption
Is that with only full-to-full measurements, ignoring the first fill? It seems a fair bit too low but... you can expect a fair degree of inaccuracy during the first few fills, because the amount that it takes to completely fill the tank varies significantly depending on the slope of the forecourt where you are filling.
Apparently the most accurate technique is to use the same pump on the same forecourt each time - obviously not possible for a typical motorhome user! And you should fill only to the first pump cutout, because having multiple goes at getting it full will result in inaccurate results (because of the design of a typical tank).
However... all of those minor details become irrelevant the more fills you average over, because those types of error will eventually cancel each other out.

Thanks for the inputs. App is accurate in its calculation and tank was brimmed first click off at same pump!,
Thought it seemed a bit low. No obvious reasons I can see TP are correct and routes fairly similar.
At a loss, its due its MOT in July so maybe gas readings will tell a story.

It would be helpful if you told us the details of your base vehicle (make, engine size, petrol or diesel etc) so we could make valid comparisons.SallyB wrote:Recently installed an app o my phone to keep tabs on fuel consumption on my 2017 Warwick duo.

I used to get similar on-board computer readings on my Sussex Duo but now 33 which is probably more realistic.gef wrote:On my Warwick using the onbord reading I consistently get 36 to 37

Re: Fuel consumption
To be honest, 20MPG is way too low for a van with a CR injection diesel engine!
The actual average consumption over my 8 years of ownership (with the same full-to-full method as you are using) gives 37.4 MPG on my van.
I know yours is a bigger, heavier van, but there is no way you should be down at 20.0 - IMO you should be in the upper twenties unless you are doing 70+ on the motorway, all the time, or exclusively town driving.

Re: Fuel consumption
3 years of constant monitoring full to full fills and continuously averaging out totals gives me32.7. Onboard computer give 33.3 for same period which in not a million miles out. I could believe 20mpg for an arduous journey but sounds low to me for average trips.

33-35mpg, somethings really amiss then. I need to reset the counters and start the checks again I reckon.

What figures is your on-board computer giving? You've never mentioned that.SallyB wrote:33-35mpg, somethings really amiss then. I need to reset the counters and start the checks again I reckon.

Would be grateful if you could give the method to call it up on the display.
Also can someone advise how I reset the oil change light?

Re: Fuel consumption
I just push the button on the end of wiper stalk three times to get mpg and then four times takes you back to standard odometer reading.
There are several YouTube videos on how to clear oil message .

Re: Fuel consumption
Once you press the button it takes a few seconds for the display to show the figure, it first gives a description. This is different to my car where pushing the button scrolls through the different metrics with no delay in showing the figures

Hand on heart, no BS, I get 27/28mpg no matter how or where I drive. Just filled up and it cost me £155, had to use two bank cards as Asda have a daily limit of £99.

Re: Fuel consumption
Average of 26 mpg with the tow car attached and air/con running 50% of the time , will have to work out the mpg between supermarket derv and branded derv,
We had a fair amount of steep hill climbs around Loch Ness shores and The Glens.
Usually average around 32/33 driving locally.

Mine, over its first 6,400 miles, has averaged 32.6 mpg, recording the quantity of each fill in an app. The onboard trip computer is actually reasonably accurate (often they aren’t).

Re: Fuel consumption
OK, so back from a weekend away, Folkestone to Detling mix of motorway and some hills, covered 91mls after topping up app shows 29.26 mpg.
Thanks to Paul I now have the consumption doodah working too. At 60mph level motorway it shows 35mpg.
So thats a bit more like it Innit!
Heaven knows how I had it so far off.
Now I need to track down rotten eggs smell I get when driving with drivers window down. Any thoughts?

Re: Fuel consumption
Is it only with window open? Most common answer would be your battery is overcooked to give off that smell but sure it would be noticeable with window closed. Feel your batteries and either are hot then that's problem.

Re: Fuel consumption
Might it be the pdf cleaning itself? Not sure of position of exhaust on Warwick, but if like Nuevo it's just behind driver's door. Unlikely that the smell would come forward and in via driver's window, but I suppose it's possible.
But I agree with Paul: first suspect is a battery if you can smell hydrogen sulphide.

If I drive with the driver’s window half open at reasonable speeds, what I smell is the chemical toilet. Some sort of reduced cabin air pressure sucking in air from the back, perhaps?SallyB wrote:Now I need to track down rotten eggs smell I get when driving with drivers window down. Any thoughts?
