1999 Harmony - how does the double bed work?
Hi all -
New member and about to buy a 1999 Harmony. When turning the two single seats / beds into a double, is there just a series of boards (or maybe the dinette tables?) that drop in between the seats, followed by additional cushions?
From the picture below it looks like it has supports for boards fitted to the seat edge?
Also how does the extended section on the far bed - shown in the image above - disappear so someone's legs can fit in when travelling? Does the left hand side slide inside the right hand side?

Hi Jinch. As far as the double seat is concerned:
1- Lift and push the Right cushion up to the cabinet wall (it forms
the back rest for the single seat.
2 - Move the Left cushion to form the seat base.
3 - Unlatch the LH vertical board and swing it through 90 deg then
lock it in place.
DONT FORGET A SEAT BELT MUST BE USED WHEN TRAVELLING

AS used to sell a double bed kit for Harmony. I know cause we bought one! It did span the two beds but was unstable and, ultimately, it remained unused. Instead for the last 27 years we've just had it as two single full length beds. Of cause, this configuration allows easy access to the loo, something which is increasingly important.

Hi bunch,
I used a really useful box with one of the tables on top to which I attached nointing blocks underneath to stop it slipping. We reverted to singles so that nightime loo trips could made more easily..
I didn't know used to be a kit !!

If you are still having problems I can send some pictures from the handbook. Basically though you take off the headrests from the driving seats and then slide the lh back seat forwards, doing the same to the rh seat
There are latches here that need to be triggered but it us easy enough. Then you push the driving seats forwards and lowrr the backs to the horizontal.
The tables then fit between the two now lowered back seats and you then fill the gap with the cushions ftom the back.
This does leave a gap between the driving seats, but that is not normally a big problem
Hope that helps
Graham

On my Harmony there was no offside forward ledge for the 2nd table.

Re: 1999 Harmony - how does the double bed work?
I have a kit on mine (which I left at home this trip) consisting of:
2 x squarish cushions, (one bigger than the other) for between the cab seats
a shaped cushion which is supposed to fit over the front seat armrests and
a plywood table with legs shorter at one end than the other because the cab floor is higher than the hab floor.
One of the dining tables (50cms x 58cms roughly) fits sideways across the forward gap, it sits on the runner on one side and the other side rests on the end of the runner and the passenger seat base. The other fits in the gap length ways at the kitchen end on both runners. Sorry this is probably more confusing and I apologise but someone may be able to send pictures before I get home. Have fun trying to make it work, we're using the single bed layout this trip. Rod

Re: 1999 Harmony - how does the double bed work?
Sorry I'm a bit late replying to this, we have 1997 Harmony. We took inspiration from another helpful member here who used a crate between the two side "sofa" seats. We bought an old small table second hand and cut it down; it fits between the two folded down seats, then laden with cushions to make a small double bed. When not in use, the cut down table sits behind the seat. Took a bit of getting used to, to be quick at making our bed, but under 10 mins easily now. You need to be quite short to sleep horizontally across the width of the van, but luckily we are!!!

Re: 1999 Harmony - how does the double bed work?
As I said earlier we've reverted to single beds simply to avoid nightime gymnastics getting to the loo !
