Kingham water leak
Just a heads up for fellow Kingham owners of a potential problem (we may just be unlucky!)
For the second time, we recently had a leak from a water pipe at the rear of the van.
Open the rear barn doors
Open the large hatch in the centre of the bed board
Remove the wooden box immediately inside the hatch (four screws)
You'll see a number of water pipes emanating from the boiler and disappearing through the toilet wall. These are sitting underneath heating ducts.
The first time we had a leak here we were in The Alps and assumed a burst frozen pipe, even though that didn't make much sense as the heating had been on. This time we were able to investigate a bit more, and, it turns out that the plastic joint collar of the heating ducts was in contact with the plastic water pipes and, with the heating on full bung, had melted a hole in one of them.
I've replaced the affected section of water pipe and, with some mesh from b&q, built a frame around the water pipes to prevent the heating ducts coming in to contact with the water pipes, whilst still allowing the heat to circulate around them.
