Post by busby65 Mon Aug 09, 2021 12:11 pm

Hi has anyone removed one of the small opening side roof windows from a Symbol? If so how did you do it.? I though they just slid into the top hinge but mine won't shift. Thanks..

Window Removal Empty Re: Window Removal

I have removed the complete upper window on an Autosleepers Topaz and suspect its the same. I did this to cure a water leak that was showing up by staining the surrounding trim panel.

I found that the water leak was due to the Butyl having degraded to repair this you need to take off the interior window surround that houses the window blind cassette.

Having removed this you will find that the die cast aluminium frame is held in place by numerous curved alloy plates and screws when all of these are removed it may still be a struggle to get the complete window out. You need to carefully cut between the window frame and body.

What I did find on the topaz is that as the window frame is under tension it was not possible to fit the frame then put the Acrylic window in that hinges on an upper lip and you need to install the frame with the window all ready fitted.

If you are just trying to remove the window you open it and push it up but may find it is under too much tension to do this as detailed above.

Hope that helps
