Warwick XL - Leisure battery draining charge
Not quite sure why this is occurring, it came to light on return home and have been hooked up since until I checked today and took or mains, lo and behold not charge being held! Not sure if there some advice for a novice here, camper only 6 months old? Thanks for any help folks

It doesn’t help you but I bought a battery tester for times like this, you could charge up with a charger and ask the local motor factors to test for you

Tom.... a meter is essential for any troubleshooting.....your post is lacking in any useful info to make a remote diagnosis. Basic info like voltage shown on leisure battery when on EHU......does it start falling immediately EHU removed.......have you neglected to switch off any 12volt consumables ie is the heating still on (fan) ..... what voltage are you getting on leisure battery with engine running. If you don't feel up to get going with a meter (they are under a tenner) then a battery test at a factors or auto electric garage.
Do you feel at ease using the touch screen controls....it could just be a setting which needs tweeked (techie term)
good luck

Tom......as has been said not a lot of information to go on .
You say charge not being held when remove EHU,are you saying it drops straight away?
Just a thought as you give no figures.....are you seeing charge volts, probably iro 13-14v and the seeing this drop when EHU removed to 12.? Which would be expected.

Thanks for the guide here’s some data that may help
Power settings (EHU on) Leisure battery 13.8, Vehicle 13.4, Active battery current Leisure 0.4, mains 0.0,
Engine started (EHU off) Leisure battery 12.4, Vehicle 12.4, Active battery Leisure 0.1 Mains 0.0
Back on EHU engine off Leisure 12.6, Vehicle 14.4, Active battery Leisure 6.8, mains 1.4

Re: Warwick XL - Leisure battery draining charge
Tom......tests carried out do not look at batteries when off mains or engine and do not say too much. However it would seem that the charger is operating due to level of voltage achieved. If you have smart charge selected on settings it will always charge start battery to full before changing to leisure so do not expect this to rise initially.Into the mix is also input from solar panel, which you can leave to its own regime or select at setting to either battery.
The only thing I can suggest at present is that you remove EHU and don’t run engine to add charge ,select smart charge and leisure battery as active in settings. See if leisure battery holds a voltage, allowing that it may drop initially to iro 12.5 if it is above due to charging.Again solar will come into the equation but if you have an issue with heavy discharge it should show up. Hopefully it’s a matter of getting your head around how it’s all working and there is no issue. Do not put too much faith in current readings being accurate!

There is obviously (to me) something wrong here. The van is well within warranty so I would have it looked at by the dealer you bought it from.

What are the readings straight from the battery terminal with nothing connected to the battery ,no solar ,no ehu no engine running, only then will you get a true reading of battery voltage

Hi at this point the monitor fails to work and it has also triggered the Sargent tracker service to call due to outage. It seems like the leisure battery is probably a dud maybe as I don’t constantly charge over winter.

Re: Warwick XL - Leisure battery draining charge
Thanks again for the advice. I’ve managed to escape work pick up a multimeter and test the battery with nothing running or EHU and the voltage reads 12.6, when I start the engine it remains at 12.6. Before starting the engine the control panel starts flashing so it seems that the there’s an issue somewhere.

Thanks again for all the advice, issue now resolved after several calls with Auto Sleepers tech team in Broadway who were fabulous. The cause a blown fuse of the leisure battery itself. I’ve learnt so much from your help and the tech team, and now have a trusty multimeter and spare fuses. Happy days !
