Not very hopeful for an easy solution I'm afraid. The idea of using the under passenger seat space seems worth exploring though.

Just been in to our local dealer to get estimate fore solar panel.they have convinced me that i would be better off getting another battery fitted under passenger seat,i would get more benefit from that . 200 amp hrs should last a few days.we very rarely stay at one plce more than 3-4 days then we cane use hook up to recharge etc.they gave me price of £450 all in ( low profile batteries) fingers crossed.

I've no idea if this will be any good for you, but I fitted a battery in a :-

THRU FLOOR BATTERY BOX
Complete with lid and battery retaining strap.
Max battery size 375mm long x 175mm wide x 240mm high.
Floor cutout 400 x 200 approx, Flange size 475 x 275.
RBATTFB THRU FLOOR
BATTERY BOX

From CAK Tanks. Page 94 of their on-line catalogue. CAK Tanks

It worked well, and freed up a lot of storage space which was very useful in the small van.

I suggest you get a quote or two for an 80 or 100 watt solar panel. I had one fitted to a Symbol a couple of years ago. The controller splits the charge between the vehicle and hab battery 50:50 but can be adjusted. Previously if the van wasn't used for a few weeks it required EHU to top up vehicle battery to compensate for battery drain of alarm etc. Now never have to think about even during the winter period.

I agree with njr. You can get quotes for solar for over £500 and more but I got my 80w fitted for £300 + £60 for battery master to keep both batteries topped up.
