Leisure battery charge Empty Leisure battery charge

Hi All,

I'm a newbie to this site so I'm looking forward to receiving all you wit and wisdom!

My husband and I have a 2017 Symbol and we're a bit 'non-technical' so can you help with a question please? I'm a simple soul so please can you keep your answers, well, simple?

Our leisure battery does not seem to be charging up.  We have 14.2v on our vehicle battery and 13.4v on the leisure battery.  Our friend, with a multi meter, tells us that the battery is holding a charge.

However the active battery data on the control panel tells us that the vehicle battery is a nice green colour but the leisure battery is a red colour and showing 12% capacity.  We also have a solar panel on the roof.

Have we pressed (or not pressed) some switch or knob?? All the fuses seem to be OK. We've had the van plugged into the electrics whilst on our drive since we got back from a week-end away and that doesn't seemed to have helped.

We keep the van at home so it is usually plugged in when we are not out and about in it.

I hope that's given you enough information to make some suggestions.

With many thanks

13.4v sounds good when you consider a reading of 12.6v is fully charged. What you are seeing is either, what your charger is putting in while on ehu or what you solar panel is putting in. Depends how your system has been wired in. I’ve said it before on the forum, the best way to check to see if a battery is holding a charge and not self discharging is to disconnect it from the system and check it in 12hours time to see if it stays above 12.6 v and if it does then load test it. I suspect there is nothing wrong with your battery, van or it’s charging system

Thank you so much.  I'm afraid all the wiring stuff is a mystery to me - I did try to read the diagrams in our booklet.  However, if you ever need a nice cake I'm your woman.

Appreciate your response.
