Towbar for Symbol? Empty Towbar for Symbol?

Can anyone advise on fitting a towbar to a Symbol to which we can then fit a THULE bike rack. I don't  want to fit a rack to the rear doors. Thanks Julia

Hi Julia and welcome.

Don’t quote me on this but having the same van, I can’t think of any reason why a towbar for a standard Peugeot Boxer van wouldn’t fit.
PF Jones are very knowledgeable on all things towbar related.

Nothing I can think of (and I’ve been under the van plenty of times with my various projects!) but as I said don’t take my word on it.
I can’t recall anything at the back end that means our Symbol is nothing more than a standard Boxer but best have a word with a local towbar fitter. I really can’t see it being a complicated job.

The Symbol is a panel van and like all panel van conversions the standard towbars for the particular model of panel van will fit. Coachbuilts, which are custom made bodies fitted to van frames called chassis cabs, are another matter because their extension behind any chassis fixing points can be highly variable.

Hi we had a towbar+electrics for bike rack fitted to are 2012 symbol it took a day. had to shop round, alot did not want to take it on. hartleys at staveley ,cumbria did the job.

K,Had a towbar fitted to our 2019 Symbol  by Towsure [ Stoke on Trent].  No issues, excellent service from this company. Have since fitted a Thule base carrier to the towbar- I like this product because it has a built rear light / winker plate fitted to the back that plugs into the electric socket. Sadly this is now not being made by Thule.

Our 2014 Symbol has had tow bar from new. It has proved very useful. Been used for bike racks as well as trailers. It tows very well.
