New Fridge for AS Trooper 1994 (E’lux 4207)
Hi
We need to replace the fridge in our 1994 AS Trooper.
Currently it’s the Electrolux 4207.
Can anyone recommend a new model (size and control positioning) that I should be looking for, and where I might get one from?
left hand side is gas control.
Right hand side is 240v and 12v
Regards
Pete

If you really do mean a brand new one then I would see if one of the suppliers will do the work for you. For example Jackson Leisure sell about 30 different models, so I would give them a call and ask which one they recommend as a drop-in replacement:

You're probably looking at well over £600, so you would hope they would be interested in helping...

Hi Roopert
Thanks for the info.
I’ll give them a call.
We’ve had someone look at it and there’s an issue with the gas somewhere which to just investigate will require fridge out, bench testing, fixing, reinstall - this assuming they can get the part for whatever is broken (Which might be tricky as it’s so old). Estimate is £400 excluding parts so look at getting new, might cost bit more bit at least we know it’ll work.

I'd be tempted to get a second opinion, as there aren't many faults that should result in a £400 bill - but unfortunately some parts such as gas igniters can be difficult to get now on those models. What symptoms do you have?

Gas up to control button (tested at that point with gas fluid tester), piezo clicks away but just doesn’t ignite. So somewhere between control button and chamber.
Electric is fine, so will use till we decide what to do.

Plenty to explore yet then, before condemning it!
I've heard of ignition electrodes coming loose and not creating a spark in the right place (though none that I've taken apart have ever had that problem), and then there is the issue of jet and mixer tube blockages.
Each of those could be zero cost (in terms of parts) to resolve, or very cheap depending on the exact nature of the problem. I'm not too sure how those symptoms could yet mean a £400 bill for sure - though of course more detail will emerge when the fridge is removed.

Hello - Ive a similar fridge in my 98 Duetto. Stopped working on gas - I watched a few youtube videos and ended up taking it out myself and doing a basic service - including the classic turn it upside down for 24 hours to redistribute liquid! My issue was a faulty 12v supply to the ignition and the burner was clogged - easy to dismantle and clean. There's no way its a £400 problem - watch a few videos - its good to know how the fridge works and you can def do it yourself - with the obvious disclaimer about being careful with gas. I can also access and service my burner from the lower vent. But it was nice to get the unit out and clean it.

We have an identical fridge in our 1995 Harmony. Roughly every other year, the fridge requires removal and the burner cleaned out as others have suggested. What I've found is that rust and other debris from the flue drops onto the burner potentially disrupting the gas flow and/or shorting out the igniter. Also the jet blocks with corrosion through lack of use. A good clean and gentle poke usually restores function.

Are you shure it's not ignighting a common problem is the light keeps flashing even after the gas has lighted check the window inside the fridge and see if you can see a flame if you can see a flame you do not have a broblem
