Picked the WXL up today
Went to Go European Motorhomes this morning to collect the van , brought it round to the car park and connected the ehu up to do the handover ,all good so far ,
inspected the out side of the van and all seamed good , into the inside and control panel switched on blue led switch indicators lit but no main display, phone call to the tech department and the lad was on his way with another panel Whilst waiting continued to check a few things and the opening widow in the sliding door had to be retinted when we first looked at the van ,all looked good on the outside but from the inside it was a different colour, manager called and we agreed that I could get it redone and send the invoice to them
New panel arrived and fitted all working and handover completed , paperwork transferred to my name and van taxed , given a load of instruction books and paper work , a bottle of wine in a nice wooden case with there logo on it and it was time to leave .
I had travelled about an hour an half and needed to clean the screen from all the bugs wash and wipers on and the bloody wiper blade shot of the arm and the arm put a nice scratch in screen , pulled in a lay-by and you could catch your finger nail in the scratch, phoned up Go European and explaind what had happened to be told to buy new blades if Auto glass could not polish out get a new screen and bill them, got to phone again as could not fine any paperwork for the jab service they are supposed to have done or the engine service , felling a bit down hearted at the moment, but as long as it’s sorted

Re: Picked the WXL up today
I bought a new Fairford from Go European earlier this year, unfortunately just before we were put under house arrest. There were a few problems that required attention and I, just like any kid with a new toy, began to lose patience. In reallity, their After Sales dept were very helpful and went to some trouble to resolve the issues I had, so keep the faith, I am sure all will be well eventually. Regards, Ben

Thanks Ben ,the only thing is I live 3 hours from them ,so as long as they keep to there word about getting any warranty work done local and the screen issue and tint sorted I will be happy ,just when it happens it takes the shine of it

Re: Picked the WXL up today
Chris, our last two vans came from GE and they really are a top outfit, for sales (many different brands) and service.
the failing panel is an ongoing issue it seems but the wiper coming off sounds a bit annoying, especially as its marked the windscreen.
however, im sure co-owner and Service director Sue Grimley will sort it for you.
we had a problem with a Dometic fridge freezer just a fortnight out of warranty, Dometic not interested and the repair cost nearly £300.
i spoke to Sue at the NEC who was so disgusted with Dometic she immediately offered us a free hab service and annual water ingress check...
good luck with your new van.

Chris & Co?
Hope you can work around the initial problems and get out and about to enjoy a really great van.
Ian
PS Lincolnshire was nice and warm this weekend if a little busy on the coast but we had another good weekend.

Re: Picked the WXL up today
I had a similar very poor handover with my van a few years ago (a different supplier, mine was a large well known dealer in Preston). On collection it had numerous faults, no paperwork for the habitation check (apparently they don’t give paperwork, they just know they’ve done it!) problems not fixed, items not working, wet carpets shoved in the cupboard, etc etc and the handover conducted by an engineer in dirty overalls who didn’t know the van!FreelanderUK wrote:Went to Go European Motorhomes this morning to collect the van , brought it round to the car park and connected the ehu up to do the handover ,all good so far ,

The trouble is to first time van owners it’s a one off heart purchase with an emotional hook. But to the dealers it’s just one of many transactions.
But I guarantee that you soon get over it. Once you start to enjoy the van trips, you quickly forget any initial issues. Enjoy your van and the wonderful times you’ll have.
