Picked up Symbol
Just got back from picking up our new to us Symbol. Went by train to Bridlington and decided to stay over night to make sure everything was OK as the dealer is 3.5 hours away from where we live. Everything worked as described and the dealer gave us a 2 hour hand over so we knew exactly how things worked. (I can recommend Springfields motor homes in Bridlington a small family firm, very helpful)
It helped though that we had downloaded the Autosleeper manual from the internet and had taken some time to read it.
Journey home was fine. Things obviously rattle a little over bumps in the road but not too many noises so we are happy. The base vehicle drives well and is comfortable.
Will have to play with it over the mext couple of days to completely familiarise our selves with all the facilities but we are looking forward to summer.
After having had tents , trailer tents and folding campers I think we can safely say this is going yo be a lot easier to use.

You do realise that puts your membership of ASOF at risk!!! Actually reading the manual and confessing to it - whatever next!!Pnefan wrote:It helped though that we had downloaded the Autosleeper manual from the internet and had taken some time to read it.
To get familiar with your new van, and to ensure that you forget nothing vital on your first trip, I would suggest sleeping in it on the front drive for a night or two. (Assuming that's where it will live.)
You can sit and think as much as you like, and make copious notes. No doubt you will take your afternoon tea out there to ponder (as we all did, and still do sometimes! ) but until you have actually lived through at least a night in the van, you can't be sure you haven't overlooked something obvious.
One couple on here forgot the duvets on their first (depth of winter) trip. Nobody laughed - it's so easy to overlook what's staring you in the face.

Are you from Preston by any chance?
My van is a lot older than yours, but if I can be of help, and you are from Preston - I'm in the vicinity.

I had a quick peak at your Symbol last month and it's a nice van, we service and MOT our car and van with Springfields.Pnefan wrote:Thanks to everyone over the offers of help. Im sure questions will crop up. I'm sure if there is anything we can't figure out all of you on here will have the answers
