Missing overcab insulation
Being bored of daytime tv today I turned my attention to the overcab table storage areas and insulation installed at build. The 2 side vertical closing panels above the doors are removed by 2 screws into the vertical hidden moulding of the plastic overcab floor panel. There are also 2 screws into an angle bracket securing them to the vertical arched panel across the entrance area into the cab.
As I thought there was NO insulation in this area with plenty of bare painted roof steel on view just waiting to condense out any damp in cold weather. Drivers side on the Warwick xl is a bit harder as access is difficult due to bathroom behind the drivers seat needing long arms! Funnily this area had a token few flicks of insulation in a half hearted attempt before tea break on Friday build day! This forms the area above the cab doors and roof above the screen pillars. I stuffed some dacron insulation everywhere and then replaced the panels. Took about 40 minutes and well worth the effort in all models of A/s van conversions. Funnily I then removed the 3 screws holding the board forming the roof if this table storage area and it HAD been insulated to a degree so individual vans may have more/ less depending on who did it and whether they could be bothered that day.

Re: Missing overcab insulation
thanks again for the tip Kaspian. If I could get anywhere near my van I would have a look , but I can't as our storage location is restricting access. I will have to check when we are all unlocked.

sorry to high jack thread. when I say restrictions I mean very polite farmers notice saying, " do you really need to come in and visit " etc.
difficult times for them as there is self isolating elderly mother in the farm house.

Re: Missing overcab insulation
Coincidentally I’ve got improving insulation in this area on my list of jobs for this week hence my question last week about removing the front blinds.
Thanks for the info and good to hear it’s a relatively quick job.

Re: Missing overcab insulation
I'm not sure it's only panel vans that have this problem?
I've never checked, but in cold weather our duvet (which lives in the overcab storage cupboard) is always absolutely freezing the first night of a holiday. This may be simply because it has not warmed up from being in a very cold van before the holiday began, but it's worth having a peek to check.
Looks like another job added to the list!
