Door insulation
Hi everyone.
Just fitted a new Fiamma DJ200 Black bike rack to the van with no problems. Looks good although will need to be careful when using it as any scratches will show up.
Before I refit the door linings I want to increase the insulation. Is there any reason why I can’t use ordinary fibreglass loft insulation? Would I need any sort of vapour barrier and if so where should it be fitted against the metal of the door or behind the door lining?
TIA.

Re: Door insulation
I’ve used before the non itch white loft insulation which is made out of recycled plastic bottles spun into the wadding. Cheers.

I would have painted that spare wheel first.

Re: Door insulation
I would advise against loft insulation. If it gets wet (either from condensation or water ingress) it will hold onto the moisture like a sponge, smell awful and be a breeding ground for mould and rust. Automotive insulation is designed to not behave in the same way and is the right product to use for filling voids where no air circulates.

Re: Door insulation
Thanks everyone for advice, I think I'll look for some of the automotive insulation. Has anyone got any information on suppliers they can recommend?

Most people have used the 35mm roles of Dacron and have got it from eBay
