Just spent the morning removing the fabric covered rear door cards.
Interesting to find about 20mm of insulation in some parts of both doors. Basic rectangular shapes in the cavities with plenty of bare metal visible. Some traces of adhesive that once held this in place.
Replaced with closer fitting, thicker polyethylene insulation glued in place.
No insulation at all in the van corners above the light fittings.

And this came as a surprise to you?? smile!

It’s pretty much the same in all areas of my van. Probably no worse than many UK vans, I think someone posted recently that German vans are generally better insulated.
