Wet Locker Empty Re: Wet Locker

Mine leaked (from new) because of absence of sealant. Inside the locker, bottom left corner and bottom right, the skirt is linked to the main body by means of folds. They should have sealant. Mine had none. Cured by sealing those seams.

However, I think you're implying that your van has been OK form 2010 but has only lately developed the problem in the wet locker in the skirt. You'd have noticed much earlier a total absence of sealant on those seams. But, if they are sealed, has the sealant failed and now needs to be renewed?

by using a mirror you can look inside the locker at the top, they normally leak from top, I sealed mine with silicon applied with a flat spatula, hope this helps

the wet locker in my 2008 Nuevo has a 3inch square hole in the floor  covered by a wire grille so inside it gets wet every time I drive on a wet road!

Wet Locker Empty Re: Wet Locker

I can only speak of the 2019 Nuevo. There are two rather small holes on the rear floor of the locker for drainage I think it could do with two at the front, when mine leaked it was on a slight slope and the water didn't drain out.

I recently found the reason for the leaks which didn't always occur. The opening has the traditional hard white plastic edge trim round it, the door has a black rubber seal. If I don't lift the front end when closing the door the white trim interferes with (obstructs) the sealing of the black trim against the GRP.

It's not easy to see if this is happening but making sure that the gap is equal and minimal all round does the trick for me. I checked today after some weeks of torrential rain and several hours driving in rain and floods last week and its dry. GRP is rather flexible and liable to distortion if it is closed with one end on the white trim and the other on the door surround.

I suppose this could also happen after a number of years of use.

The wet locker on the Gloucester is under the floor and is designed to take 'wet' items such as a hose not fully drained.  It therefore has drain holes in the floor at the corners that you will see if you remove the rubber mat.  When there is a lot of surface water, as there has been in recent weeks, spray gets in through the drain and settles under the mat.

Not all underslung lockers are wet lockers.  Their used to be a company that made 'Beeney Boxes' that fitted under the floor, these were (meant to be) waterproof.

Mine seem to be part of the monocoque, so not a beeny, they have rubber seals around the doors & ribbed rubber mats so any drain holes not visible, I'm  interested now so i'll look tomorrow!!
