Kingham LPG Tank
We plan to go through the long tunnel in the Pyrennes (Tunnel du Somport). We are informed that we may need to shut down the LPG tank. Does anyone have any idea's on what we need to do?

If it's like the Channel Tunnel, then turning off the red taps under the bench and in the cupboard (beside the cooker) will be sufficient.
However, if you need to properly isolate the tank, then there's a tap on the tank itself that needs to be closed - that means getting under the van.

Yes I agree with this. Only been asked. Not sure about the other tunnels, only used Eurotunnel.

Which is not a lot of fun for someone as creaky and well past his sell-by date as I am, specially if it's freezing cold and hissing down!!Weegie wrote:However, if you need to properly isolate the tank, then there's a tap on the tank itself that needs to be closed - that means getting under the van.
I've had this done at very little cost if it's of interest. Just a loop of tubing after the regulator, with an accessible tap just under the side skirt.
It has received favourable comments from the Chunnel inspectors on several occasions, so I think it will be acceptable anywhere.

I also agree with this. You need only close the red taps inside the van, my van has 3.Weegie wrote:If it's like the Channel Tunnel, then turning off the red taps under the bench and in the cupboard (beside the cooker) will be sufficient.

And if anyone asks "is your LPG switched off?" reply simply "Yes" while exuding confidence.
I have been through many long road tunnels and I have never been asked to switch the LPG off. You certainly will in the Channel Tunnel but not any road tunnel I have encountered.
