Leather steering wheel
Although its now 8 months old just twigged that my warwick xl with premium pack has not got leather steering wheel fitted. The van is going back to AS in november for warranty work so will ask them about it.
Meanwhile,am i alone on this,do all such speced vans have leather steering wheel or has anyone else been supplied without?

Re: Leather steering wheel
Don't think any AS vans have leather steering wheel. Some members have had them fitted as aftermarket.

Can't see it noted on the Premium pack in the online listings.

"Next thing is a bit of extravagance, a custom made leather steering wheel from here, http://royalsteeringwheels.com/offer/
On a van costing £50,000 new, a hard plastic steering wheel bugs me. "
Best mod I have done to the van just feels so much better
Cost £150
Chose the type ,colour and pattern of the leather and stitching.
I purchased a spare steering wheel so it was made up and fitted at the factory.

PLOUGHLIN....your correct re current online listing.I have noticed the one i was looking at was 2017 for 2018 models which lists it as part of the premium pack so it looks like its changed since.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Re: Leather steering wheel
I ordered my 2017 Kingham with Premium and Winter packs and it came with leather covered steering wheel and gear shift.
I’ve just checked my 2016 and 2017 brochures and it looks like it wasn’t included in the 2016 Premium package, so a fairly short lived option if it’s no longer there.

Re: Leather steering wheel
Kdc you are not alone! I hate the plastic feeling steering wheels some vehicles come with.
Heartily recommend Jack at Royal steering wheels, they have made several for me and the quality is top notch. Worth calling as they sometimes have wheels they can use and then you just send the old one back, lots of options. The one on our motorhome is now 7 years old and looks as good as the day it was fitted. Just do it!

Re: Leather steering wheel
£150's a tad too rich for me, although it does look lovely. I opted for a fit-it-yourself jobbie at £10 or so from Amazon. Not as neat or as slick but after nearly two years it's lasted well, still fits tightly, and feels much better for driving than just the plastic wheel.

Just out of interest, where you able to change the steering wheel yourself? Wondering if the airbag etc was a problem as I am thinking of doing the change.jennyandpeter wrote:If anyone goes down the Royal route I have a spare Peugeot steering wheel .

Re: Leather steering wheel
I got royal to do it as it was not too far and only £10. It did not take long you just have to disconnect the battery remove the screws in the airbag cover and remove the airbag. He used a large socket to remove the nut and it just pulls off.

Re: Leather steering wheel
In our case the local Merc dealer did it for free, only took 5 minutes but I would not want to do it myself with the airbag

Re: Leather steering wheel
I enquired about the option of a leather steering wheel when I ordered my Kemerton XL a couple of months ago. No, it wasn't available as an option.
My understanding is that A/S choose 8 Boxer options from Peugeot. Why only 8, select more options and the basic van price rises?
A while back A/S had the Boxer coming with the leather steering wheel as one of the standard features, then they stopped, in 2020 they might reconsider this. Perhaps instead they opted for Boxers coming with more than zero cup holders?
A question to A/S, what are the options you ask Peugeot to fit on the Boxer, and why so few, why no more than 8?

Jennyandpeter.......thanks again for info about Jack at Royal Steering Wheels. Ordered today, exchange wheel(he has one in stock to cover) as you said £150 +£20 to fit. Not cheap but half the price of dealer wheels and I want one so will be very happy if its like the pictures on their gallery.

Same on my 2018 Symbol. Think it was part of the Premium or Winter packs that were fitted to the van which was in the showroom already built but unregistered.

Re: Leather steering wheel
I paid for one from royal so have the one he removed from our van, I was one of the first motorhome ones so he did not know if it would be useful. Ask how much he charges I think it was £30 . Ours is going spare if you want to make an offer on it.

Ok thanks, I'll remove mine and take it over there not far away, he's done my MINI a couple of times.

That looks a fantastic job they have done there Kdc.
What shocks me though is that A/S didn’t think that this should be standard on your £50k+ van??
