Rust on brake pads of new Topaz
Hi all - We collected our new Topaz on Friday but have not used it until today due to the stormy weather. Today, we noticed the brake pads were all rusty! We drove to the dealer but, by the time we got there, the rust had disappeared. The dealer said this happens - rain will bring out the rust and then driving will get rid of it. Is this normal, please?

Hi jetton
I would say yes.
I expect you mean brake discs (not pads, as you can't see those).
It's only on the surface and will appear after they get wet, either through rain!!!!!!! or washing.

Yep, those discs are certainly not stainless and will build up a thin layer of rust even after a couple of hours. Even if left for a couple of months it will all rub off within a very short distance

Thanks very much for the replies to my question. Yes, I did mean discs not pads (sorry). Glad to hear it is not a problem with our 'van. So much to learn..... but we love it!

ALL brake discs do this (well, except very expensive carbon fibre ones), including the ones on your car. I can understand why you'd be sensitive to anything that seems amiss when you've just bought the motorhome, but it's worth remembering that the base vehicle is just that - a vehicle. There are hundreds of thousands just like yours out there. I'd be more concerned at anything that seems to you to be amiss with the conversion part of the m/h. and the habitation systems.
Enjoy the van.
