MOT Failure - Emissions high
Hi
just had the dreaded phone call - Peugeot 2.0L petrol failed on the emissions - apparently very high. The garage have tried to lower them with no success. They have suggested I try to find an old school Peugeot specialist to take a look.
So I am looking for recommendations/suggestions - we are based near Ipswich, Suffolk.
Thanks in advance.

I assume that you have a new Peugeot air filter just fitted? Just that one of my petrol Fords failed some years ago and they fixed it with a new filter. Have you also had it serviced?
Best of luck,

Took van to old school village garage, 24 later all OK, new plugs, temperature sensor and engine clean and all is well.
Running much better. MOT for the year - ready for the summer.

So often the case! Many larger garages either can't be bothered, don't want the work, or simply don't know, where small trader types you've used are the absolute opposite! Glad you got sorted!JandL wrote:Took van to old school village garage, 24 later all OK, new plugs, temperature sensor and engine clean and all is well.

I once had a large MOT station garage tell me a van i'd taken to them was so far gone it was scrap. Needed lots of welding they didn't want to do. Then one of the guys came to me just as i was about to leave and said, "try this chap as he does nothing but welding" and gave me a phone number. The work didn't faze him at all, he gave me a price and started immediately. Fourteen years on and that same van is still on the road!

So true. The garage was in a small village, must have had a dozen cars, vans outside, very helpful owner (not a young gun by any means, told me he was vey busy and looked it, dropped it off late afternoon saying not in a hurry, heard nothing next day, then lunchtime following day a phone saying all done and ready to go. Brilliant. He could not MOT it as not enough headroom.
Sadly it is up for sale as he is retiring, all that experience going.
