German exhaust emissions
Hi - we are going on an Auto Sleepers Rally to Austria this summer and will be calling on our niece who lives near Stuttgart in Germany on the way back. We wonder if anyone has information regarding the position on Exhaust Emissions that apply when visiting cities in Germany, I believe you need to buy a disc to drive legally within the cities. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that there are several websites which will sell you a sticker but some of them charge much more than others. The sticker costs €5 if bought in person in Germany [from a TUV station or a main car dealer] but can be obtained by post from UK for €6. See the sites below for info - I think that two of these sites will sell you the sticker for €6. You will need to send and image of your van V5C document to enable the correct colour sticker to be provided.

Re: German exhaust emissions
I aplied for my emisions zone badge as sugested for our short trip to Germany. Aparantly due to the age of my 1996 Duetto I cant have a badge. I didnt realy intend going into any of the cities whilst we were away so I will manage. The daft part about this is the trucks we had in the army when I was stationed in Germany would have made the TUV testers have a fit. One of our Fordsons was in service at the end of WW2. I checked its history. You had to hit the hydrovac fuel pump with the jack handle to keep it running on long hills. The standard convoy speed was 32 MPH/50 KPH. I came out in 83 so its not that long ago is it No wounder we upset the German motorists.
