Fairford table Empty Fairford table

Post by Lorfal Fri Jan 11, 2019 10:18 am

It’s quite a heavy table, travels in situ, attached to rail at one side to van wall with folding gate leg at isle side. Has anyone found a away of using this outside , maybe having a bespoke leg attached to the other side? Has anyone removed it completely and replaced it with lightweight folding one that can be used in and out? We don’t use the front bed often so wouldn’t particularly need this table all the time.

It’s not that we dislike it, but it’s more open without it ......just gives more options.

Hi Lorfal

I've seem motorhomers using such a table outside, but they had installed a rail for it on the outside of the van.

Apart from bodging holes in the side of the van (not the end of the world, but undesirable) I didn't think it would work well on uneven ground.

You might like to consider the Fiamma tripod table mount. Not cheap, but useful inside and stable outside, plus it takes very little storage space. You would need a separate table top for it, but your dealer may well have one on his "useful bits" shelf. Ours did and it cost us all of ten quid.

All here - and a search around might find it cheaper elsewhere. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

My Eriba Puck caravan had a similar table. The van also had a strip (the same as on the inside wall) fixed to the outside of the van which the table simply clipped into.
Obviously you probably won’t want to bond a plastic strip (readily available online) to the side of the Fairford but you asked for ideas smile!
We actually used the table in that position frequently and it worked well

Edit...Dave you are always one step ahead of me ha ha

Excellent suggestions chaps! Soooo going on the tripod thing. We have a tripod we carry in van for the camera and sky master binoculars. So we have the tripod already , complete with the tripod legs and that shaft. Have had a trial with this , we have an extra attachment that will fit onto underside of table ....at the end without the leg obviously. The tripod simply screws into this. Have preset the feet so it’s not splayed our, still sturdy with room for sitting comfortably. The shaft part is height adjustable  to suit uneven ground! Voila one instant tripod table leg without the need to carry any new kit or spend any money! It’s workable and fab!

Thankyou!
