Fairford dining table Empty Fairford dining table

Post by Karen Mcfarlane Sat Nov 16, 2019 11:39 pm

I have a 2019 Fairford and as there is normally only 2 of us plus dog, we would like a smaller dinette table to give us a bit more space in the front area of the van. Hubby is practical and happy to make up a smaller replacement table for us, but we want it to match the ‘slate grey’ worktop - Autosleeper don’t seem to be any help in providing an off cut or any info on where we can get a piece of the worktop fitted. Has anyone else had this problem?

They probably don't have 'off-cuts' because they buy the tables and worktops already cut. Ask them for the suppliers name and perhaps you can contact the supplier direct.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I made a replacement table top soon after buying my Symbol last year. Not for your reason, I just wanted to have a table that we could use and abuse without worrying about damaging the original.
The only colour vohringer board I had in the garage was gloss white and black edge strip. Despite having slate worktops, we soon forgot it wasn’t a match!
Many campervan companies on the internet sell table tops in various sizes/colours. All you need to do is swap the legs over. It won’t be an exact match but I think you may struggle to get the original. If you can manage to source some, trust me A/S etc.. would want a crazy price for it!
Here is just an example of the internet.

Try this site - we got a new table top for our new van here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

When we had the Fairford, I had to secure the table runner to the side panel with spring toggle bolts as the constant sliding of the table pulled the rail of the van.

Hi Karen
Funnily enough I spoke to the Autosleeper spares department about 3 weeks ago to try and find out about those slate grey table tops. They told me that I could order one, they had them in stock and it would cost about £90 I think. It would come without legs which is what I wanted. In the end I've used the original table and taken those awful ironing board legs off. If you want to go really off piste, there are lots of good grey colours to be found at the right sort of thickness if you look at shower wall lining panels but you have to buy a large piece of board.

John, nice idea but how would you edge those shower wall panels after you have cut it to size??

Apparently it's quite possible to buy the flexible edging along with the panel or at least, that's what I was told when I went to a panel supplier. I confess that my research stopped there and I went back to my original table which I've jobbed to take a single leg. I use that in one of those 3 legged stands which gives, for us, much more leg space and can be used outside.

Thanks for the info John. Those tripod stands seem to be favoured by a few on here so a good solution.

Thanks for all the advice. We did try a fiamma tripod base but it’s too big to fit between the dinette seats! Planning a trip to Rainbow Conversions in the van and see if they have anything suitable.
