Re: Towing car
Much cheaper to rent a car if it’s for a short duration while on holiday

Re: Towing car
Skoda Citigo, but beware if you decide to buy a new or nearly new one - ours is primarily Sian's car so it is quite new.
Most cars now seem to come with keyless ignition, which makes it rather difficult to disengage the steering lock without leaving the ignition switched on all the while you are towing.
There are claims that it doesn't damage anything, or that it can be over-ridden in some way by fiddling with the electronics (a foreign language to me! ) but until there is definite and verifiable evidence that such cars can be towed safely it's better to stay with the old fashioned key.
My fear would be for the electronics to take control and do something unexpected - and potentially disastrous. So many aspects are automated these days, but the driverless operations are performed by computer chips which don't have the ability to think and evaluate in every possible scenario. Worrying, or what!!!!
Another example of pointless "progress" creating serious (for some) but unforseen problems!!!!

We've been looking for ages, finally got a 2008 Peugeot 107 last week. Already fitted with an A Frame, newish MOT and only 50000 miles. Towed it home from Manchester to Lincoln and didn't even feel it. We have the Broadway EK.

Re: Towing car
we have a smart fortwo nice and light no steering lock so no need to leave key in the ignition . had it converted at armitage trailers ferrybridge the a frame itself is quite heavy and one thing to note is you can not reverse with the over run type systems but at at £850 is about a 3rd of the price of the electronic type . i use the car every day and like it but i do not know if i would bother converting again as we hardly take it with us but then again we do not go away for weeks on end due to still working . we live in brighouse you are more than welcome to call over and have a go at setting it up and a chat . richard
