Trident sliding side window
I am having a problem with the sliding window behind the cooker and sink in our 2005 trident auto sleeper. I can squeeze the catch but not pull the slider towards me and therefore not move the slider. I have tried using 3 in 1 oil on the catch in the centre and top anf bottom but still no joy. Any suggestions? Thanks very much,Mary.

Re: Trident sliding side window
Is it simply sticking to the rubber seal? Get someone to gently push from outside as you squeeze catch on the inside.

Is it fair to assume that it's a T5 (because of production delays you can't always assume this with A/S)?
Has the window ever been opened during your ownership? It's not unheard of for people to seal them shut if they leak persistently...
If so, the "butterfly" latch can be a bit fragile, so it may be that an internal part has sheared off and one or both of the locking rods is not retracting. You can buy latch repair kits for around £8 on Ebay, such as this one:

I should add though that I have never used that specific product.
The Ebay ads are quite useful in themselves, because you can get a good idea about how the latch functions from the photo of the parts.
[Edit: I've never checked that the parts for the window in the sliding door are the same as the ones in the window on the other side that you refer to - so I would advise you check with the seller before buying, if you go down that route!]

Thanks,That is very helpful. As you say it is good to be able to look at the latch in pieces. It definitely worked last year so I'll have another look. The problem will be that it's really awkward to get at on that side-my husband says I should just live with it not working!

If it's like our Trooper, access is a bit more difficult because of the blinds. One other thing you can do is to open the butterfly catch on the sliding door and observe how it works (i.e. how it retracts the rods at top and bottom of the frame) then look at the problem one and see if it's doing the same. If so, it may simply be that the seal has stuck itself to the glass - in which case a good inward push from outside may free it, though that may depend on whether a previous has put Vaseline on the seal.
If it were mine and it's not leaking, I would just leave it alone! I never open ours anyway...
