Success Empty Success

Post by suecamellia Sun Mar 11, 2012 8:43 pm

Have just purchased my Duetto, 1996 from Selsey, drove her back to Cornwall and fingers crossed so far so good.
She is very nice to drive, haven't done much of the reversing bit yet but hopefully with practice!
Having never had a motorhome before I am on a very steep learning curve, so any advice would be much appreciated.
There is some rust which needs attention and also I thought I should have a habitation check as there hasn't been one done for a few years.
Probably a silly question but should I get the rust done first or the habitation check or does it not really matter which way round?

Hi suecamellia

Well done on your new purchase - may you have many happy years in it.

With regards to your question - I would always get a habitation check done especialy if it hasnt had 1 for a year - just for your own safety and piece of mind.

Hi Sue
Congratulations, definately have a habitation service done first, in particular the gas system, as a gas leak inside the van could be very dangerous, this is a normal part of a habition service. As the van is longer than you are used to I would also recomend reversing sensors, these will tell you how far you are from an obstruction when reversing . Cost around £100

Hi sue

I will agree with all the congrats on here.
Our first camper was a symphony which did come with a habitation check- after a few trips we smelt gas- it turned out that Gas was not included in the habitation check-so it was quite expensive to have fixed,

We now have a 2000 Duetto (I can even spell it now) and are really happy with it.
Please use the this forum- we found it like the "club" very helpful and also a first rally was really benificial- we are going to the rally in Newark in May and look forward to even more advice.

Enjoy
