Disabled loo seat
Hi, can anyone advise me? Is it possible to fit a raised disabled toilet seat to the bench loo in a Duetto? Also is it possible to remove the original seat and lid? And if yes then how?

Re: Disabled loo seat
I can't advise how to but seeing as you can buy replacement seat and lid then you must be able to remove them and this was taken from Thetford Frequently Asked Questions..
General questionsI am disabled, where can I get my Thetford product adjusted?

Re: Disabled loo seat
Hi there,
I am "large", my shoulders are wider than "Petal's" toilet and I have arthritic knees so I can only say "I wish!"
However, all is not lost!
Check out [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to see an exploded diagram of each Thetford toilet.
On "Petal's" toilet it is possible to remove the whole of the seat and lid assembly by simply lifting ("ripping" would be a better term because it takes quite a tug!) the whole assembly upwards.
The assembly consists of the lid, the seat, two nylon hinges and two pegs that join everything together on either side.
My problem is not so much the height of the toilet as the fact that the access is restricted because the lid won't go all the way back due to the wash-hand basin sticking out about 2cm. (As a result I am "perched" on the front end of the toilet.)
My solution is to simply remove the lid from the hinges. (The lid rests on the top whilst on the move so there are no extra smells or visual problems.) Without the lid I gain about 4cm of extra front and back room at seat level; which is a great improvement and turns a trial into what can more or less be classed as a pleasure!
With regard to the arthritic knees, I have also put a small hook and an elastic band opposite the door catch. This allows the door to be opened slightly and allows a greater spread of the knees when needed.
You know the old saying "Where there is a will ....... etc." Enjoy.
Best regards,

Loo seat
Thanks guys for your help, I shall look into sorting it, may be by removing the seat and gaining the extra space will help, but I could really do with it higher too! I will let you know if I sort it. Cheers

Success
Well it's a job done well, we have raise the loo by 4 inches. We achieved this by removing the original seat and lid, and replaced it with a aidapt 4 inch senator raised toilet seat, cost just £20.22p. Got it from amazon.

Re: Disabled loo seat
Hi there,
Looks an excellent solution to the problem.
Is the extension just sitting on top of the Thetford or have you sealed/glued it in any way?
Best regards and
Ian

Loo seat
The seat comes with attachment screws that fasten it down tight so no sliding off, you can see one of the blue fastening screws at the back of the seat to the left in the photo.

Thanks for the info.
It will undoubtedly be put to good use if my knees get even 1% worse than they are at the moment!
Best regards,
Ian
