Slideing side door stop
Hi does anyone know of anything that stops the slideing side door on a van conversion going right back ie some kind of stop that only lets it open half way ?

Re: Slideing side door stop
You can buy an expensive piece of angle which is glued onto the upper rail The wheel on the door moves over this to allow it to fully open, and when closing this acts as a chock to hold it half open.
You can do exactly the same for about 3p with self adhesive velcro! Just clean the rail where the door is where you want it to be, then stick the velcro to the rail. Let it set. Then the door will pass over it when opening then the velcro will act as a chock to stop it sliding closed.
Harder to explain then do!
When the velcro wears, just glue some more on top.

I read this tip somewhere.
Drink a bottle of wine, retain the cork.
cut the cork length ways so it has a slope (Like a door wedge).
Fit between lower frame and bracket at door handle end of sliding door, this will hold it wherever you put the cork.
If you lose this device, pull the cork on another bottle !

Other solutions are a wine cork in appropriate hole in bottom track stops the door from opening fully. Or jam a tennis ball in bottom track.

Re: Slideing side door stop
Hi,
I also would like to open slid door half way only.
Found this picture a couple of months ago on tinternet, looks as if would work, just fix it in required position.
Unfortunately I can't find the supplier.
I'd be interested if someone found a supplier.
Cheers Windy

Hi Windy
That looks a bit hard for the door rollers to run over if going L to R as in your pic?
I have a Warwick Duo, and the double (now) layer of velcro works fine, in both directions. On the Duo, you have to open the door fully to get to the toilet cassette, so it has to be able to half and fully open.
The 30Euro German one I saw was a strip of angle with a notch cut in the horizontal part, the wheel stopped there when half open. The velcro does exactly the same

We use a small wedge shaped pencil eraser placed flat against the wheel of the top runner.. The wheel stops running wherever you put the wedge. Works perfectly

This will fit at the bottom of the door frame where a similar angled piece is at the very end and is the normal stop place. You would have to pull the handle to clear it to shut the door.Windychippy wrote:Hi,

The picture does of course show the stop back to front as would not work at all if fixed as in pic. I would personally prefer a fixed solution and the notch you mentioned sounds like it could be one.

We have a rubber door stop from a pound shop, brightly coloured so easily spotted if it drops to the ground just sits on the top runner ,easily moved so that door can be just a few inches open or any where you want perfect

Sliding door mid stop
You can get a very similar metal stop as shown in Peters photo above from Brownhills Motorhomes at Newark. They told me its Fiat part and they get them from Autotrail who fit them to their vans. Adria also use something similar. They get asked for them all the time and usually keep some in stock. It will also fit a Boxer. However Peugeot have never heard of it and couldn't find it on their parts computer. It's part No. 13MET0022 "SIDE DOOR MID STOP" and costs £11.70 inc VAT at Brownhills. Not cheap for little a bit of bent metal, but its made for the job and just screws into the middle of the bottom rail on the door frame with some self tappers, wherever you want the door to stop halfway. You could always make one if you can find a bit of suitable steel such as a piece of a stainless steel rule. Just copy the shape of the one already fitted to the Boxer or Ducato vans at the front end of the bottom door rail.

Velcro spot works for me. A whole sheet of velcro spots for a couple of quid from Home Bargains.

Just the job but at that price will be going down the D.I.Y. route. With the door in the midwayish position my better half will be able to enter and exit with more ease, I think
