My channel did not overflow, it started to seep out of the panel near the black plastic and handle and some water even came out of the rear drain but nothing in the channel near the rear drain

Re: Sliding door water ingress
I cut a line across the plastic drain cover that went into bottom of the window
Then using a flexible Stanley blade slowly cut through the mastic both sides of the drain them waddle it about till it came out. Then I used the Jnr hacksaw blade to remove the mastic to make a Drain the width of the drain cover. As you can see in the picture is the blob of mastic that blocked the drain cover.

With more recently produced vans, did A-S or possibly Autoglass change the way they refitted the windows after they'd applied the tinted film to the windows, or have I missed something?

Re: Sliding door water ingress
Regarding Relaxez-Vous's Q, Nick Whale has a 2018 Kingham on it's website, with one particular interior picture that shows badly stained sliding door trims. It looks like it was caused from water ingress through the sliding window. Quite why the trims weren't replaced before it was presented for sale is another matter - since these vans are currently flying off the shelves, they probably don't need to bother too much!

Re: Sliding door water ingress
Are we saying that initially water is getting past the sliding window (due to them not quite sealing properly) and then has nowhere to drain because of blocked/sealed off drain holes?
I haven’t suffered from any internal window leaks or problems but I would like to keep on top of things by periodically doing some basic checks or maintenance.
What would be recommended to
1- Keep the sliding window seal in good condition.
2- A basic test to check the drain holes are clear.
3- Any other routine checks I’ve not thought of.

Re: Sliding door water ingress
My air compressor, the one we carry in the truck, 12v, came with a selection of valve adaptors for blowing up foot balls, air beds and so on. Most do, even foot pumps.
For the blXXXdy annoying one below the driver side wiper, I use one of these, I can get to 100psi, doubt if your can managed that, indeed I hope not!
Bigger drain holes would have been an easy manufacturers solution, perhaps it doesn't rain much in Sevel!

Re: Sliding door water ingress
The actual plastic drain strip is not sealed to the widow apart from the bloody blob of silicone that blocks the drain.
I also used by dremal to make a bigger hollow in the plastic drain and a junior hacksaw to widen the slot in the silicone it fits in
All secured with 3m duct tape
I do not want to repete this job

Re: Sliding door water ingress
If I put some water in a jug and poured it in to the drain channel inside the van, I should see two streams of water running down the outside of the van?
And is this only an issue on the sliding door?
What about the sliding window on the offside of the van?

Re: Sliding door water ingress
I made a tool by cutting the end of a junior hacksaw blade at an angle to make a pointy saw blade and then, after protecting the paintwork on the outside, I pushed the saw blade down along the face of the internal rectangular drain tube and out through the seal material. Once through, I was able to saw up and down and side to side and remove enough material from the seal to make an effective drain - both on the front and rear drain holes of the side door. I still have the toilet window to do, as both windows have been bonded in the same way with blocked drains of course. Unbelievably poor workmanship, it should be obvious that those need to be kept free.
To do the work on y side door I removed the trim and the blinds and holders - what a bodge job they were! Barely secured in, no wonder they rattles like hell. Who on earth screws a self tapping screw just into thin hardboard without using a proper retainer? I uprated everything, added foam and tape, more fixings and extra brackets, and am looking forward to driving it next and seeing how much noise has been reduced in that area.

Re: Sliding door water ingress
Another method which I have set up this week, as the problem is back, involves setting uo a capillary drainage system. I have used this system to drain water off the roof that stands up there because all the roof lights up there block the drainage channels on the roof.
I have cut a 2 inch wide strip off a duster. I have gently tucked one end into the space below the window opener, where I could see water that was not draining away. The strip of duster becomes wet and water is drawn away from the opener. It is the same principle that is used for watering plant pots. So far it is apparently working. Obviously driving with the duster in place might well be a problem but then the rear drain comes into play.
