Inflatable awning Fairford
Hi
Just bought a new 2018 Autosleeper Fairford and looking at an inflatable awning (not drive away) that is easy to erect, does not interfere with sliding door. Would like one that you can use suckers to secure to van. Any suggestions?

Hi Herby,
Haven't purchased an awning myself yet so will follow your post with interest.
Have looked at the link you provided, and it does state as being suitable if you want to stay in one place and attachment looks easy so why would you want to attach by suckers?
Cheers Windy

The awning attaches to the Thule Awning but I was interested in the suckers to hold the side of the awning to the van. Some have gaps at the sides. Want something to hopefully fit the curvature of the van, just to offer better privacy etc

I think I might need the Kampa Motor Rally Air Pro 260 L not the XL Awning 2018

Re: Inflatable awning Fairford
We are about to purchase the Kampa Motor Rally Air Pro 330 XL suitable for our coach build. One of the reasons being is that although attached to the wind out awning then wound back in, hopefully we (being light sleepers) won't be disturbed by creaking of the awning when the wind gets up. The Limpet system with rear upright poles, ensures a draught proof fit to the sidewall.

Thanks Paramedic. The sound of the awning is a good point. They do creak in high winds. Also in high wind there will be less likely of any damage due to the poles. A friends van got damage that way.

Further, the Limpet system works well having earlier bought the set of eight to secure our 'own design' draft skirt/pelmet along the bottom. We had made an earlier version of this using garden sticks not only to cut down on drafts from underside of van but deter animals and on one occasion a pigeon appeared and made a bit of a mess before it was able to escape.

Hi
That sounds a great idea. We have two small dogs and want to do the same thing to secure the awning. Did you buy the limpets online.?

Yes via Amazon, Tamworth Camping at £21.99 (average price with free postage) but easily available elsewhere from £19.99. We fashioned a former heavy duty plastic ground sheet from our tenting days. You can buy the proper stuff by the metre. We will also buy the storm tie down kit albeit the steel pegs by comparison aren't as industrial as supplied with our Thule Omnistore Rain Blocker. Many thanks for the advice that was very helpful. We are going to do something similar. Not sure if I need L or XL will speak to the shop.

Have the catalogue, looking at it now, three sizes dependent on the height of your roll out awning (exactly where you will slide in the 4 or 6mm Keder beeding. From there measure down to the ground...size L: fits 250 - 265 cm, XL: fits 265 - 280 cm, apologies if you already know that. Regards

Re: Inflatable awning Fairford
Thanks again for your help. Overall height of van is 2640mm so will go with L not XL. Wondering if to wait for the Xmas sales. Hoping there may be a deal of some sort. Looking forward to the warmer weather :)

Yes, next summer can't wait. As regards price, have trawled the internet and found collectively no significant reductions, seemingly all selling at the same discounted price from the supposidly RRP. Interestingly, enquired about best price from our nearest dealer at Portsmouth who respectively offered £30 off. Another dealer online had the size we were looking for (customer had ordered the wrong size so it had effectively been erected and simply folded back into the bag) therefore offered a reduction of £59. But now reduced to £800, he insisted on adding carriage so not much of a saving after all. Don't believe one supplier stating that Kampala restricts dealers from selling the brand too cheap?

Re: Inflatable awning Fairford
Magnets must be the answer, not directly onto the paint, but through the cloth of the awning.
