Ford Transit AutoSleeper Duetto
Hi,
Still looking for a 1995/1996 Ford Transit 2.5 litre diesel duetto autosleeper and I came across a ford transit 330 mwb TD autosleeper duetto for sale at a very reasonable price, does anyone know if these are comparable. Many thanks.
Sue

Hi there,
Welcome from a windy and rather chilly Alicante!
If it says "Auto Sleeper Duetto" on the paperwork and it agrees with the manual then it probably is one! (On the basis of "If it walks like a duck ........ !" etc.)
Great choice of motorhome. We paid £14,995 for "Petal", a 1998 Duetto with 62,000 miles on the clock in excellent condition.
Best regards,

Hi,
Sorry to hear it is still windy and chilly in Alicante !
Thanks for your comments, I guess the best way is to go and view ! It's just that if it looks too good to be true it usually is (sceptic).
Regards,
Sue

Sue,
Be VERY careful!
One member of the Forum did all the checks and got all the reassurances one would normally expect; and then discovered that the MH on the log-book wasn't the one he had bought!!!
I'm not certain of the ultimate outcome but I think that the insurance company of the stolen (and re-numbered) MH that he had bought finally 'sold' it to him!
So be very careful before you part with any money!
Best regards,
Ian

Hello Ian,
Thank you for that advice, I subsequently e mailed the "so" called seller and they replied that they had not put this item on e bay and that
they had informed e bay about it, so obviously some sort of scam.
Sad old world we live in !! But there are still some nice people out there, thanks.
Regards,
Sue

I assume you are referring to Algy. It has still not been sorted and is now in the hands of the insurance ombudsman. A very slow and painful process!

Paul,
I have been involved with the electricity Ombudsman and now equate the word with "removal of teeth without anaesthetic" and "watching paint dry"!
Also, although they found in my favour, I still felt that they weren't on my side!

A 330 mwb will make it a Mk6 or 7 Transit (2000 reg on). As you are looking for a 95/96 (mk4/5) Transit i'm just wondering if you know exactly what you are looking at? What is the registration number?
The Transits used for the year you state (95/96) were built on LWB (long wheelbase) and SWB (short wheelbase) chassis. The MWB (medium wheelbase) came after 2000 and though slightly longer internally than a SWB, they are smaller than the LWB.
If it is a genuine Autosleeper conversion there will be a sticker on the inside glovebox indicating the Autosleeper Job number. If there isn't, ask the owner for the Autosleeper manual which also lists the number. You can then check the validity of that by contacting Autosleeper. If the owner cannot supply either or both, then i'd suggest you walk away.
How much is the asking price and can you upload some photo's?

Paul,
I needed that!
I have just been down on my knees going "Mwah! Mwah!" on "Petal's" floor!!
May she carry on for another twelve years - a new clutch every year will still be cheaper!
