Transit Duetto
Hi... has anyone any experience in fitting an extra lap belt in a Duetto..? It would need to go on the side facing couch. Mine is a 4 berth model but only has 3 seat belts fitted, so I need an extra one Cheers..!

Re: Transit Duetto
The short answer is don't try and do it! Side facing seat belts have a very poor safety record and are liable to injure the wearer. Any such modifications must be declared to your insurer and my feeling is that they will reject such a modification.

Re: Transit Duetto
I fear you have entered into the legal mire of seatbelt legislation, and how many passengers can travel in a Duetto, even when it's 4 berth.
It has three nominated travelling seats, so to travel with four could be against the law, in having a passenger without a seatbelt, it could invalidate your insurance, in an accident the 'loose' passenger could suffer severe injuries or cause such injuries to others, or all could be perfectly legal and no problem.
I'm afraid you will have to take advice, which will vary depending on who you talk to, and make your choice.
If only life could be simpler!

Does the autosleeper manual say "panel van conversion 4 berths with four seats designated for use when vehicle is in motion" I belive side facing seats do not require a seat belt.

Yes, you are right, astrag60, but I have someone interested in buying my Duetto and they want to be able to restrain both grandkids.

Yes that explains it well.PLOUGHLIN wrote:[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
While number of seatbelts available and use of seats without a restraint appears clear, if you carry passengers in rear seats without a belt the police can prosecute if they deem it necessary.
A phone call to your insurance company is a must for their view on the use of unbelted seats, and one must accept the risk of a ticket from the police.
