As someone else has already said earlier, it will almost certainly be a failed fuse. If the engine is started with a completely flat leisure battery, the result will almost always be that the fuse on the split charge circuit blows.

Thank you. And thanks for everyone's patience as I get up to speed.
Now to find the fuse!

Probably adjacent to the main vehicle battery - often in a block with the fridge 12V fuse.

Thanks. Will start my search there.

Re: Does my Trident have a split charge kit?!
Right! Have now fully charged leisure battery using a mains charger. Plumbed it all back in. 12v system working fine.
I've tested the leisure battery with a multimeter and it's showing 13.06v with the engine on and the engine off. I imagine if the split charge kit was working I'd see some change between the two.
The fuses all seem intact. Any ideas on what to investigate next? Manual suggests it could be a faulty relay but I don't know where it is or how to diagnose it.
Thanks again!

Re: Does my Trident have a split charge kit?!
Possibly
1. Under the bonnet somewhere near the engine battery, maybe on the bulkhead
2. Under the driver's seat on a bracket.
The relays are usually black cubes about 3cm per side.
I think that I'm right in saying that it will usually be with the fridge relay, though I'm not sure if this applies to van conversions.

I guess I just find it, test it with a multimeter and try and see if they still sell that relay.
Thanks, Kim!

How long did you wait after the engine was off before measuring the voltage? Straight away and it will read the same. 13.06v is high with no charging taking place.

Measured it before and then once it was on.

They still sell them, erm, I bought some but I can't remember what they are offhand, I'm sure that mojo or bartfast or Peter will know.
I would suspect that the usual reason for problems is not the relay itself, but poor connections to the terminals causing overheating. I had to replace the same relay in my 95 Exec for this reason when I bought the van.

My first step will be to replace the fuses. They might look ok, but you never know! Then I'll try and find the relay and test with a multimeter.
Quite enjoying the diagnosis!
