Split Charge Relay Location
Hi, I have a 2007 Nuevo with a MES electrical system installed. The leisure battery has stopped charging from the engine and I suspect that it is probably the split charge relay or associated fuses. Does anyone know where the split charge relay is located physically?
I am currently sat in a pub car park with the engine running and temporary cable connecting the leisure and vehicle battery to get the former charged. Very luckily I caught it before the battery got flat.

Thanks Paul - it doesn't appear to be there - only a connector which I guess is for the seatbelt alarm.Paulmold wrote:I think its under drivers seat.
Any other ideas?

Hi
If you trace the thick(ish) red wire back from the leisure battery it should lead you to the relay (possibly via a fuse).
I know it may disappear behind a panel but hopefully it’ll give you a clue where to look.
By the way, what do you mean sitting outside the pub – tracing cables sounds like a job for Mrs Aethelric to me (while you sit inside the pub).
Brod.

Thanks Brod - its a blue/brown wire and just disappears into a loom. I can't see any relays with thickish wire going to them around the leisure battery (under a rear side seat). The vehicle battery is about 5 feet away under the passenger seat, The relay could be anywhere.

Re: Split Charge Relay Location
In most conversions they would be located close to the engine battery and alternator. Probably fixed to the engine bay bulkhead.

Re: Split Charge Relay Location
Found it, thanks to Patrick at Autosleepers. It's behind a grey panel at the bottom of the drivers side door stanchion. It's working fine though and it's not the problem.
According to the schematic in the handbook there is a wire which runs from the relay to the 50A fuse in the leisure battery compartment. Trouble is it's red at the relay end where it disappears into the loom and brown at the fuse end where it emerges from the loom. They are not connected electrically and the problem must be with whatever is the join. Autosleepers could not help over the phone.
I've disconnected both ends and run another wire across to get it working and its fine now. But if anyone can shed a light on where the connector or fuse is at the red wire/brown wire that would be useful.
