Hi LizLiz n wrote:My other half, also being a Lancastrian, says that he likes both Yorkshire and Lancashire equally (very diplomatic! ) I think that Yorkshire beauty spots get a lot more publicity than those across the Pennies, but maybe that keeps the west side special.
If it was my choice, I would holiday in Scotland every time. We know the west coast very well and the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland just make you want to return again and again.
Have you done the coast of Argyle & Bute, some beautiful golden sandy beaches on the way down to Campbeltown , the Isle of Bute is worth a visit, also on the Solway coast south of Stranraer , wifi can be abit tricky in places.

Hi Boaby,
We've not done the Isle of Bute, but it sounds as if it should be on the list!
Did Campbelltown and Skipness when kids were small but not in a van. There was wild camping at Skipness on the lochside which looked fantastic.
Visited the Mull of Galloway last summer, staying on clifftop site from where we could walk to Port Patrick. Worth a visit. We were able to go up inside the lighthouse on the southern end of the mulll.

You've obviously found the 'Reply' button. The 'New topic' button is next to it.

Yes - what Frank said.
Bottom left of the screen from the "Quick Reply" panel, which I suspect you have been using.

You seem to have been there , Bute is worth a visit if your intending to continue across the Kyles of Bute back onto the main land , some nice beaches , some secret beaches too , local attractions include Mount Stuart house, Rotheasy castle , many more things to see, depending on your interests. Used to be O.K for wild camping (very busy during the fair fortnight ) only one site on the top of Canada hill, mostly statics and wood cabins .Really good Highland games each summer.
We haven't been back to Argyll for a year or two, we always like Muasdale .
Have a nice Holiday

Thanks, Boaby,
Think you were right about the weather! The forecast has certainly changed since we booked lower Wensleydale but at least the Sigma is cosy so full steam ahead.

Re: First outing this year
Good luck with your trip Liz, we're getting away on Wednesday for (a much delayed) first outing of the year. There's a decent circular walk from the Lower Wensleydale site that takes you over to Middleham, which is famous for having more horses than people resident. Somehow or other we ended up walking on to the local gallops, all we got from the jockeys were friendly waves. At least I think that's what they were

We had a look at the estimates in the auction when we were there, jewellery and vintage cars. We passed Goods in the chocolate shop were in our price range though.burlingtonboaby wrote:Hi LizLiz n wrote:Thanks, Boaby,

Yep, snow lying here this morning
Thermals and a hot water bottle have been packed, although the rubber does taint the whisky

Are you saying that you know more about the layout of the forum than these two people?

I've no idea why you get a different view. Perhaps someone more computer savvy than me can answer.
Do you have more than one computer/tablet/laptop on which to view? If you do, is it the same on them all.

I think I've just found out the problem. I always use the 'classic version' of the forum. I just changed to 'mobile version' and got the same view as you. Go to top right, click menu (3lines), click 'classic version' and hopefully you see everything you should.
