1st New Year Project Done.
Thought we would post our 1st New Year Project now completed, we wanted a smaller table to use for when you just want a coffee etc... So you did not need to put the large table up all the time, well here it is:-

Pauls table
Hi Paul,
Nice finish but the mounting is a huge bulky item compared to the Whisky version using a polypipe adaptor, I have made one similar to his but with rounded corners like yours, size 18 inches x 9 inches, easier stored.

Coffee table
Sorry I should have put in the size, it's 11 inches x 11 inches with rounded corners very solid, stores great behind the jump seat, so no need for going in and out of the wardrobe all the time, and also enables us to get in and out without dismantling the table.

Coffee table
Great feedback glad you like it, but I must not take all the praise for it as the other half came up with the idea, then got me to get the table base from eBay £5.99 it's light weight not as heavy as the metal ones, however I was horrified to find that the piece of table top she had in mind for the job was in fact part of my recording studio table that I had mothballed for some time in the future lol, however she does tell me that I can have it back if I later find I need it. But she then said that now we have the van I will be far to busy to be playing around with my music, I bow to her greater superior knowledge as usual lol.

Searched ebay but could only find the floor socket in plastic. Do you have any links for this please?
It's a really good idea - several times recently I've set up the laptop on the "not quite so big" table and then found that I couldn't escape to make a cup of tea without dismantling the lot and then starting again from scratch! I don't think AS really thought too carefully about where they placed the floor sockets in my van...

Coffee table
Hi Paul,
In the photo it looks a lot bigger than that, but is definately a lot smaller and more suited for lounging, somewhere to put coffee/tea cup, or beer glasses etc considerably better for this purpose than the 2 standard tables, provided by AS in our van, which are 18 inches by 22.

One leg or two?
I've approached the same problem in a different way by making the large table the default table. I've screwed a kitchen worktop joining strip [which just happens to be the correct shape, size & colour] to the floor between the single seat and the sliding door allowing the table when not in use to slide over the the seat and support the table leg stopping the table from falling off the edge of the floor, by doing this it allows for easy access in and out of the van it's also very convenient for placing drinks etc on when sitting outside the van. The table was originally stored in the space above the cab, and still does at night time when the bed is made up but when we are on the move it is attached to the large panel in the bathroom by the back door freeing up the space over the cab to store our sleeping bags and the infill cushions for the bed. The smaller table can only be used between the front seats and as it is only the passenger seat that is of any use when swivelled because the driver seat either hits against the long seat behind it or faces awkwardly close to the passenger seat making the small table virtually useless so it has been taken out of the vans wardrobe along with all of its bits and put in storage, freeing up a bit of extra space in the vans wardrobe.

2nd new year project complete
That looks a great table batch nice finish. Well we have decided to make another small table 11x11 again this time as more of an all round table I.e. it fits great between the front seats for the occasional stop, or makes a great little outside table/extra seat should you need it and will probably stow behind one of the front seat.
Now what's next on that list dear!

PS would look even better with a pair of ASOF mugs

I also have a similar table ( doubles as a stool ) bought from Go Outdoor 2 years ago. Fits nicely into smaller spacesCruizingComet wrote:Paulwest55 wrote:

Re: 1st New Year Project Done.
Sorry Boys and Girls but would someone please explain what is the use of a table between the front seats?
Do you both sit in the seats with the table in position and get the maid to bring the tea? Or does one of you sit in one seat balancing the cups of tea, cakes etc. while the other faffs about putting the table into position while sitting in the other seat?

lol Frank, you forgot you can set the table, exit the habitation door and hop into the front via the passenger side door or just leave the wife in the back to get the sticky buns

Maid
Do you mean to say you didn't get a maid with your autosleeper lol.
I get what you mean though Frank, but you can use this table any where in the van as a small substitute to the large table. But for me it's handy between the seats just to have somewhere to put things when we stop for a short break when on a trip, as I am disabled and find it difficult to be getting in and out of the drivers seat for short breaks.
I guess it's one of those things you either need or don't, it makes for a great small outside table or third seat if needed.
