Mystery switch on duetto!!!
Hi Everyone,
We have just bought a 2003 Ford Duetto and everything seems to be working fine, but there is a switch with an indicator light (currently off) behind the drivers seat, on the side of the sette, that I cant find what it does. It's right by the leisure batteries, there is also a plug point. Any ideas
Rob

Battery charger? Test leisure battery with it switched off and then switched on and see if the voltage shows a difference.

Re: Mystery switch on duetto!!!
Thanks both,
I haven't got an electrical cable hook up yet, so cant check to see if the leisure battery is charging. Although the charger is in the wardrobe floor, so I wouldn't have thought the switch is connected to it?
No heated seats, so it can't be that.
Any other ideas? The switch looks like an original item (rather than a modification) and lights up if I switch it on, but nothing seems to happen.

It was a late night. I tend to function better in the middle of the night.

Re: Mystery switch on duetto!!!
Thanks for all the suggestions,
The ejector seat is working fine, so it's not that
The water heater switch is under the cooker and we have had the space heater running, with the switch off.
I have taken a photo to see if that helps. It's behind the drivers seat, on the side of the sette.

Hi Norgil,
I have no idea if there is a anti frost heater fitted, how do I tell? There is no mention in the collection of manuals etc and the previous owners did save a lot of history.
Rob.

Re: Mystery switch on duetto!!!
It's a doorbell. They've fitted it in the wrong place.
Could be an after market fit by a previous owner. Have you looked inside the locker (under the settee/bed) to see if you can spot any wiring? Alternatively, give Alan a call at AS tomorrow. He's the man to speak to about everything and anything AS.

Re: Mystery switch on duetto!!!
Same switch type as my old Rienza, but it was mounted near the hab door. Mine was for the outside light. It also resembles the switch that extended the time that the radio could play. Mine was at the end of a bench but mounted on a cupboard bulkhead.

Can you ring the previous owner ?
You can often find out who, from previous vehicle history, or purchases.

This is a low level red light to allow you to find your way to the loo in the small hours without blinding the driver.

Switch mystery solved!!!
Hi everyone,
Just to let you know the mystery is solved. I followed Bulletguys advice and contacted AS, the switch is non standard, but does as Norgil suggested, control an anti-frost heater in the water tank. You can see if one is fitted, by looking on the exhaust side of the water tank, for a small round fitting, with two wires attached.
I'd just like to thank everyone for their help in solving the problem.
