Battery Charging
Advice please.
If the external mains input is connected and all switches on the panel above the back door are off except the one which is optionally HAB or VEH, am I right in assuming that whichever one is selected is charging, and does the master switch have to be on or is it not relevant?
Dumb question perhaps, but when the vehicle is driving is one or both batteries being charged, does this come back to the HAB/VEH switch or again is this not relevant.
Thanks
David

Re: Battery Charging
I think we need to know what year your Symbol is and what make of control panel you have.

Re: Battery Charging
Thanks. The year is as per the forum heading, it is a 2006 Symbol.
I now realise the the answer to the first question is in the book! (first read the instructions!!!)
The second question still applies.
I have no way of knowing the make of the control panel but the book says the battery charger and control unit is CEC & Inter-power from Plug-in-Systems Ltd.
Thanks
David

Re: Battery Charging
When the engine is running both batteries (and the fridge) are being charged.
I am sure that the control panel does not enter the equation.
If you wish to check this for yourself. Put a voltmeter set at 20v across the hab and then the engine battery. Then repeat these two readings with the engine running. You should get readings of approximately 12.7v without engine and 14.4v with engine. If either battery is low, it may take a while for that battery to reach 14 plus.

Re: Battery Charging
Its as KMRTOPAZ says above. Interestingly, I stopped on layby to use the van toilet, I left the engine running but had left all the switches turned on. I had to stop the engine to operate the flush and wash my hands. We now have a tube of hand steriliser in the shower cabinet.

You can see from the heading at the start of this thread, that the year does not show, this is a forum host problem, it shows under the forum home page but if like me you go straight to 'posts since last visit' it doesn't show. If you alter your profile to show the year then we can see from that for future questions.
