battery charging

I have a transit duetto autosleeper 1998 and would like to know if its on 240v lead overnight should it also charge the vehicle battery when leisure battery is satisfied?

I suspect not - based on my experienec of a 1998 Cluban. When that was on mains, the onboard charger only topped up the leisure battery. For that reason I bought an Airflow Battery Coniditioner, which I plugged into a socket in the van, and which thence kept the vehicle battery in perfect condition by plugging it into the cigarette lighter (which on my 1998 vehicle was not wired via the ignition and which therefore was able to top up the vehicle battery as necessary. I suspect the same will apply to your 1998 AS.

No the built in charger only charges the leisure battery. In the thread at the link below you will see reference to a 'battery master'. This simple device is the most effective way to charge both batteries at once.

The exception being if the vehicle has (the relatively rare) auto transmission.
