Duetto 2007 Leisure Battery
Hi All,
My Leisure Battery on a Duetto 2007 will not hold a charge and requires replacement, couple of questions before i start the task if anyone can help it would be much appreciated:-
1) I've tried to find the battery type so i can get a direct replacement, but cannot see what it is anybody any ideas?, which leads to the second question
2) I presume the only way to get the battery out is to fully remove the drivers seat, any tips?
Thanks in advance

Is it a Mk6 or Mk7 Transit.
If the latter and arranged the same as the chassis/cab version then your leisure battery is not under the drivers seat. The 2 batteries under there are the starter and what Ford describe as an auxiliary battery which supplies power to the likes of the cab radio, engine emu, alarm etc.

Re: Duetto 2007 Leisure Battery
I don't know about the MK6 for certain, but after owning a MK7 for 6 years I can tell you with 100% certainty that there are two batteries under the driver's seat. The front battery is the leisure battery and was originally a 90a/h lead / acid type. The rear battery is the starter / engine battery.
roli is correct in what he has stated and the front battery is described as being the auxiliary battery by Ford, but it is still the leisure battery as far as the Duetto is concerned, no matter what Ford call it.
In order to change the battery, the driver's seat must come out. This is an easy job as the seat is held in with 5 Torx 40 bolts and removing them allows the seat to be lifted out (I used to put it on the seat / bed). There is no need to disconnect the seat belt, or any electrical wiring. The battery is held by a clamp secured with three bolts and watch out for the hydrogen leak-off tube as it is easily damaged when removing and refitting the battery.
I can't help you with the battery type as the model that was fitted in my 'van has been superseded, but the one I used was a Varta 90a/h model. If you measure its dimensions then a company like Tayna [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] will be able to supply a suitable replacement.
PS I am fairly certain that the MK6 is similar.

So A-S did an "economy" installation and didnt fit a leisure battery, very naughty, as Ford fitted the Aux Battery cos they thought the van needed it. Have a feeling they did it on later Rienza and Hampshire vans
My Aux Battery is the same as Spospe describes a 90Ah Varta but my leisure battery is a more healthy 150Ah Exide in the back of the van

I see the OP is in Worcestershire ? I have a perfectly good 110 leisure battery here which was bought in error. If he or anyone wants it a £25 donation to MacMillan nurses secures it. It would have to be collected though !

but it was only an option. My mk 6 only has the starter battery under the seat and I have a 130AHr battery under the bed.roli wrote: as Ford fitted the Aux Battery cos they thought the van needed it.
