Symbol Washroom Window Empty Symbol Washroom Window

Post by Carver Sun Feb 07, 2016 2:38 pm

Hi,
We have a 2003 Symbol that has an AS fitted high top.
I have noticed on a couple of occasions, what appears to be a minor leak through the window of the washroom.  Although not a major issue at present, I would prefer to sort this now rather than waiting until it gets worse.

Does anyone have experience of removal / fitting and resealing of such a window.  On the outside it appears to be retained by a piece of trim around the perimeter of the window secured by a series of screws every 50mm or so.  (As opposed to the lounge high windows that appear to be fixed internally).

Thanks

If I remember rightly (which would be unusual for me) on my 99 Symbol the window was more an opaque piece of glass in a rubber seal and as you describe on the outside. Please affix the word " gently to all the following.  Remove outer trim and the screws. The rubber should now be flexible enough along with the glass to be removed. Clean the seal and bodywork. Check seal for damage.  Refit using a caravan sealant

Thanks Biffo, that's a great help.
I was hoping that it would be fairly straight forward, although these things usually throw up an unforeseen issue.
Thanks again,

Is it a small opaque oval glass window?
I had a small leak on mine which came through the glass seal and into the washroom.
I used some glass silicone in a cartridge gun and fed the nozzle under the rubber all the way round on the outside.
That did the job.

Thanks PB,
yes, it is the same small opaque window.
Which type of glass sealant did you use?  It seems a bit of a minefield to know which to use for such a job ?
Thanks

I used just a general one, can't be more specific but something like this:
