They can be left in place, depending on how large you are! But with them in place the bed is really too narrow to be comfortable.

We store ours vertically alongside the sliding door.

We leave the seat backrests in position. The beds may be on the narrow side but not unduly so.

Always made up the double but the backrest sat on top of a fillet piece shaped to the wheel arch. So with the backrest in place or removed the bed size would be the same.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to my question regarding changing from a Symbol to a Warwick Duo, your observations have been most helpful. We've finally decided to go for a Sussex Duo due to the extra spec. Is there a Sussex Duo owner anywhere in southern Scotland who would be prepared to let us view their vehicle?
